My sister attended a beading workshop at La Gourmet House (restaurant), The Curve last week. She spent 2.5 hours there and managed to create a beautiful bracelet using glass beads.

A total of 21 participants turned up at the workshop. They were taught by the people from Strands Gallery to make a bracelet(each) using the weaving technique. They also provided all the tools and beads.

Besides selling ready-to-wear necklaces, earrings, bracelets and etc, Strands Gallery also sell many kind of beads, semi-precious stones and tools. There are also classes provided for the enthusiast. For more information, kindly visit their website.

This is her first ever handmade bracelet. Lovely.

I don’t really like the turquoise color that she has choosen but under a pure white light, this combination of turquoise and transparent beads blend really well.

She even received a certificate of attendance for participating in this workshop.

Total cost of the workshop ? RM150. Sis said it’s not worth the money as they only taught them how to made ONE bracelet.

While waiting for sis, me and mom went window shopping. I bought a pair of earrings from the fleat market at RM13(should have bargain with the lady…haii). The flowery petals were made by twisting and turning a wire using round nose and flat nose pliers.

Ahem yes I’m a beading fanatic as well. I’m currently looking for shops that are selling beading material in Klang Valley. Any ideas where ?

hi checheh!!
wah…another bead enthusiast. Thanks lilian for mentioning me…shyshy..
Frankly, buying them is cheaper than making them. Serious. If u just like normal beads, out there is selling at RM10 for 3 or sometimes 4!!(earrings i mean). So cheap!!!
It wouldve cost me a whole lot more + precious time to make them too.
Swarovski crystal ones are more expensive cos the crystal cost is really high.
I buy my beads stuffs around petaling street area. Will email u later on some of the shops i frequent.

Beads, no idea … but nice handiwork, your sister’s beads.

Petaling Street area is definately where you would find lots of bead shops. It’s not in Petaling Street itself, it’s all the surrounding streets. Have a stroll there someday.

Hey, i’m a new bead enthusiast too.. Still trying to find where i can get those beautiful swarovski beads for a reasonable price. The place where i learnt to do this is selling RM4 per bead!!

And you’re right, Fashionasia, making them is more expensive than actually buying them off the shelf.

Check out the stuffs i’ve done at http://struttothebead.blogspot.com

Don’t laugh, ya.. i’m still an amateur at this but i’m going to put up every single item i make to show the gradual improvements! Leave a comment there if you like too.. Cheers!
