Chester’s Unique Sleeping Sound

Happy 2014 everyone!

Chester make this very unique sleeping sound sometime when he sleeps especially when he’s having nightmare (the nightmare part is just my guessing because his paws twitches sometimes). I’m not sure if other doggies make this similar sound but nevertheless I find it uniquely cute.

The thing is I’ve been trying to record this sound he’s making for many many years. All my attempts were failure because my dear dog will wake up or stop making the sound the moment I press ‘record’ or find my recorder. It was my lucky day that night on the 28th of December 2013. πŸ™‚

Click to hear the sound and tell me whether your dog does the same too. And do you think he’s having a nightmare?

Yes, all my dogs make the same sound. Our guess is they were going into a deep sleep (REM). Chase would some times howls like a wolf. The legs like they are running, eyes, body muscles twitching. It’s comical to see it. I never try to disturb them when they are in deep sleep coz one time i did to Cooper and Ranger, they both acted so confused πŸ™‚

Dawn, thank you for clarifying this matter. One mystery solved! πŸ™‚ Howl in sleep? That’s so cute. Hehe Yeah their eyes and mouth will twitch too. I think they’re dreaming. REM mode is when you’re dreaming right?

Hmm Chester doesn’t appear confused when he woke up (if I kacau him)… he just looks like he’s waking up from a nice sleep.

Ohh… My previous dog never make this sound before. So when I heard it from Chester, I was surprised.
