Why would anyone give their child a handphone ? For security ? Nah we’ve been living without handphone for as long as we can remember. Although nowdays handphone has become a necessity but I believe that if one day God decided to make handphone ‘disappear’…poooof! we can still go on with our life with no harm. Oklah, if you’re really worry about your child’s safety, why don’t you yourself give some effort and educate them ?
Now come to the subject why let your kids bring their handphone to school(if you decided to give your child one). I can think of more cons than pros for letting the child bring handphone to school.
First, jealousy will arise thus there will be more ‘little thief’ in the making.
Second, they cannot concentrate on their studies as handphone nowadays are loaded with sms, mms, 3G, games(umpphh maybe not the changgih one lah). Also what if the handphone rings during class time. Bad!!!
Third, you will spend more on handphone bills!
Fourth(not concerning school), you children will spend more times on handphone than WITH YOU!
Fifth, what happen to childhood games like ting-ting, guli, congkak, etc ? Will these games extint from urban children life ? Get a life, child!
And lastly, health dear! Imagine your children spend 10hrs talking, playing games, sms on the handphone. What will become of their well-being ? What’s more with deteoriting eye sights(due to playing games and sms for long hour) and wave hazard. Until today many of us are not aware of the hazardous wave emits from handphone.
Anyway, for adults → HAIL HANDPHONE !!!

Totally agree with you on this one, Che-cheh!
Wu Ching, hahaha good idea!
Jeremy C, Thanks!
The children will be divided, and because they are children, they tend to compare. Children tend to compare with their peers – what they have and what they don’t have. Parents cannot submit to all their kids’ demands and this will lead to jealousy, rebellions, rage, disrespect and ultimately this’ll affect their studies.
For goodness sake, the correct thing to do is promote the public phones. I used the public phone in school whenever I needed to call my parents when I was in school. Maybe the authorities are aware that 70% of the public phones (esp around school compound) are vandalised and not working properly. Hell, repair them then. Promote healthy usage, educate the children about importance of public amenities.
Too much freedom (getting whatever they want/demand) will only spoil the kids.
No phones! no phones!
