in Chitty Chatty

I know I did a bad job in my first novel review not too long ago. Buy hey, please gimme one more chance.

Here’s my second review on a chit lit book. You’re right Sophie, I love this book and I guess I’m a Cecelia Ahern devotee from now on. I’m gonna buy all her books soon. At the mean time everyone, let’s chill on this one.

PS, I Love You is a brilliant and a ‘well worth your time reading’ novel. I tried to read it slowly, refrained myself from finishing it at 2 or 3 go but many times I have refused to part with the book. In the end I finished PS, I Love You in record time. The characters are vibrantly described and the story and twist are well-written. I can relate to Holly’s character in some circumstances.

PS, I Love You by Cecelia Ahern

Exert from Cecelia Ahern site’s.

Some people wait their whole lives to find their soul mates. But not Holly and Gerry.

Childhood sweethearts, they could finish each other’s sentences and even when they fought, they laughed. No one could imagine Holly and Gerry without each other.

Until the unthinkable happens. Gerry’s death devastates Holly. But as her 30th birthday looms, Gerry comes back to her. He’s left her a bundle of notes, gently guiding Holly into her new life without him, each note signed “P.S. I Love You.”

As the notes are gradually opened, and as the year unfolds, Holly is both cheered up and challenged. The man who knows her better than anyone sets out to teach her that life goes on. With some help from her friends, and her noisy and loving family, Holly finds herself laughing, crying, singing, dancing – and being braver than ever before.

Life is for living, she realises – but it always helps if there’s an angel watching over you.

Cecelia got me ‘hooked’ same like what John Grisham got me involved in his books years ago. I love the way both authors put words into their books. PS, I Love You is Cecelia’s first book, published in 2004. Since then, she has wrote 4 more books. Her books are dubbed into various languages. Look at the book covers here… lovely yeah?

Oh btw, PS, I Love You movie is slated to be released in 2007 or some say 2008. I’m pretty sure I would favor the book more than the movie. That’s because my visualization of the characters’ in the book somehow doesn’t go with the current actors that are starring in the movie.

Example, I visualize Holly Hunter to be Holly, Eva Mendes as Denise and ‘a very young’ Susan Sarandon as Sharon. In comparison with the real film stars in PS, I Love You, Hilary Swank as Holly, Lisa Kudrow as Denise and Gina Gershon(no idea who she is) as Sharon. And the tall, dark and handsome guy:Daniel that I imagined doesn’t even look like Jeffrey Dean Morgan!(whoever that is; but he’s quite handsome hahaha)

Other books by Cecelia Ahern: Where Rainbows End, If You Could See Me Now, Mrs Whippy and A Place Called Here.

Now go on, stop by any bookstore today and grab PS, I Love You.

And I have already read it – found it to be too draggy and too whinny most of the time. Sorry :P Maybe, it just does not happen to be my cup of tea that’s all. Hope you guys like it :)

Moz Monster, weeee  thank you.

Jemima, thank you to you too.

Wuching, PS I’m fainting.

Sophie, thank you for this wonderful gift. Have you finish reading the book?

Kleio, I won’t hate you, I’m gonna kill you!
But I do agree with you…sometimes the whining is too much but overall there’re more pros than cons.

Yvy, whoa so many books? Happy reading! You must be in heaven right now. Jealous. Wish I have more time to read.

Dreamcatcher, quick think think think…ring any bells yet?

Oh… so so gonna love the movie that is going to come out. :) James Marsters is playing John – the dead husband’s best friend. He’s the actor who played Spike in Buffy the Vampire Slayers. *sigh* So hot… ;)

Anyway, one of these days I would love to read the book, judging from your reaction towards it.
