My rants/summary for Korean dramas watched in 2012. Most are produced this year while some are old ones.

B.E.S.T
I’m a sucker for love story and these 2 favs of mine for 2012 are dramas that tugged at my heartstrings.

1. 신의 Faith

Faith

Yes Faith is not perfect and yet my addiction for this time-travel-love-story is the greatest of all. I even suffered a tough withdrawal after it ended. It lasted more than a month. Am I fully cured? I don’t think so. Love all the moments between the OTP (one true pairing).

2. 보통의 연애 Just An Ordinary Love Story (Drama Special)

Just An Ordinary Love Story

Like its name, it’s indeed an ordinary love story. Sweet. Dramatic. Mellow. Love the portrayal by the actors, the screenwriting and the swoon-worthy cinematography and scenery.

Overrated
Dramas that get more hype than what they are worth.

1. 세상 어디에도 없는 착한남자 Innocent Man

Innocent Man

At first it was dramatic and exciting with all the kissing and backstabbing. Towards the mid, I gave up trying to figure out what all the characters were thinking. What’s the hype? Sure Song Joong Ki is cute.

2. 각시탈 Gaksital/Bridal Mask

Gaksital

Where the lead actress keep ending up in jail (I can’t even count!). I like the goosebumps-induced ending though. Ohh and Kimura Shunji. But that’s it. Okay okay and at least I learned something about Korean history during the Japanese occupation. Satisfied?

Blergh
Just ignore ‘em for your own good.

1. 아름다운 그대에게 To The Beautiful You

To The Beautiful You

I watched this whole freaking drama which I TOTALLY regretted. When it ended I asked myself: ‘What the hell just happened?’. I felt empty. What’s the main plot again???

2. 사랑비 Love Rain

Love Rain
Another ‘almost’ regretful drama. Thankfully I stopped at episode 19 (2nd last epi) which I think is not too late coz it saved me from MAJOR hair-pulling. Couldn’t stand the 4 leads (ah pa, ah ma, adeul and ttal).

3. 빅 Big

Big

You don’t tempt drama watchers with this kind of story and then pull a major WTF moment in the last episode. I almost wanted to hit Gong Yoo at the head in the last 5 mins (like Daejang Choi Young). Okay this one I’m not sure whether to put it in the Blergh or Worth-watching category but thinking about the overall experience… well it tasted good at first but got very ugly towards the end, so I guess Blergh category? (sorry Gong Yoo).

Worth-watching
Dramas that are not in the Best, Overrated or Blergh categories but worth-watching.

1. 난폭한 로맨스 Wild Romance – Love the OTP bickering.
2. 여인의 향기 Scent Of A Woman (2011) – Live life to the fullest!
3. 부활 Resurrection (2005) – Revenge! Uhm Tae Woong rocks here.
4. 적도의 남자 Man From The Equator – Another UhmForce drama. Love the bromance.
5. 옥탑방 왕세자 Rooftop Prince – Love Micky Yoochun sageuk accent. Haha
6. 최강칠우 Chilwu, The Mighty (2008) – The 3 sageuk musketeers!
7. 내 이름은 김삼순 My Name Is Kim Sam Soon (2005) – Being fat/plum is beautiful. :)

A total of 19 Korean dramas watched in 2012. Does this qualify me as a Korean drama addict? Here’s to more in 2013! Kekekeke

I’m the biggest looser when it comes to K-dramas. I’m still stuck with the one and only drama which I had mentioned it a million times….i’m still finding the time to watch one epi a night. :(
