I submitted entries for TARA and 5 Takes USA couple of months back and although I didn’t make it, I’ve been waiting and waiting and waiting for both shows to premiere in Asia.
Of course as of yesterday, the wait was finally over. I enjoyed watching the first epi of The Amazing Race Asia (TARA). Allan Wu, the host of TARA is abit stiff and at some moment, he looks to me like he’s ready to ‘eat you alive’. You gotta loosen yourself a bit friend!
When I first found out about the teams selection, I was a little bit angry. How come the choosen ones are all ‘pretty looking’? And now I gotta say that they have choose well. Nice blend of people you got there. I truly enjoyed watching Prashant and Sahil’s antics. They are models from Sri Lanka and they’re so funny. Ohmygosh I can’t stop laughing. And I adore Ernie and Jeena’s enthusiasm. They are people that I would like to be…ADVENTUROUS & CONFIDENT.
The 10 teams of two were flagged off at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Wohoooooooo!!! It’s just the first race and you don’t expect anything much to happen besides racing and completing task la but then in this very FIRST race you get to watch the first cry of TARA and the first traffic accident of TARA.
So do I have a favourite team yet? Actually I have a couple. I’m gunning first and foremost for Ernie and Jeena and my second choice would be Andrew and Syeon. Go! Go! Go!

5 Takes USA (season 3) which debuted last Saturday at Discovery Travel & Living is the pride of Asia too. This travel show showcase 5 of Asia’s very own TJs aka travel journalists strutting their stuff in the USA. What makes 5 Takes very special (besides being a travelling show) is that the TJs will write/record web logs/video logs for each of the cities they visited and you get to mingle with them in real time.
Unfortunately I find that the first epi of 5 Takes USA where the TJs travelled to Las Vegas is below par. A few of the TJs overreacted and overstated the norm. There isn’t much ‘off the beaten track’ route either. The only entertaining part is listening to Bevis speak. No don’t get me wrong. It’s not his ‘mouth’ thing. It’s interesting to hear what Bevis has to say about this and what Bevis has to say about that because Bevis has a very facinationg way of describing almost about anything (well, that’s what I feel la). Other than him, I think Zach is the better TJ. Anyway I’m giving this show a 2nd chance or maybe even a 3rd chance.

heh!heh! :laughing: yup amusing 1st leg. my sis who isn’t a fan too laughed out loud watching those 2 models from india doing their stuff… n scores of ‘oh my god!’ utterances. :LOL:

as for 5 takes us, i think the show will improve once they’ve shaken off their jitters! yea, a mixture of overdoin’ and undercookin’ it.
i dun get to watch it here lah..

Dreamcatcher, I joined the online race early this morning but I’m stucked at Route Marker 6 because the ‘Hell Gate’ won’t open until tonight 11.34pm till 2am which I think my team will be eliminated by then because we must reach the pitstop by 7pm today. Without ‘Hell Gate’ we can’t go to the next Route Marker. :loser:

This is my least favorite season of 5 Takes. The TJs don’t have the comraderie the TJs of previous seasons had and several of them are rather arrogant. That show grew old fast and I stopped watching after the second episode. :sleepy:
