Oven Hopping

We (sis, mom & me) spent our Saturday oven hopping around Klang Valley. Yeah we hopped from Bukit Raja to Kelana Jaya to Puchong and finally Klang searching for the perfect built-in oven for our home kitchen.

We had a Zanussi gas cooker cum electric oven but gave it away 2 years ago because the electric oven’s thermostat often malfunction. So you can imagine 2 years of inactive baking has made our hands getting itchier and itchier and our thoughts run wild. We so wanted to bake cookies, pastries and cakes. Besides Carnival Sales is just around the corner. Tee hee.

My sis has her eyes on Fagor and Electrolux but most probably she will choose a Fagor built-in oven. The reason was because I kept adding salt and water about Fagor and she also realised that Electrolux only has 2 or 3 built-in oven models compared to Fagor (9 models). She’s weighting which brand to buy in terms of service, spare parts, the availability of a certain models and price range.

There are other famous built-in oven brands such as Teka (made in Germany, very pricey), Ariston and Fujihome but believe it or not, out of 7 shops that we visited 5 shops display Fagor built-in oven in their shop!?!

Do share with me your tips regarding which built-in oven brand is better and what are the function and feature that I should look for in an oven.

hmmm, i’m not sure what new features there are in the new generation of ovens but i’m using an Electrolux built-in model and so far it hasn’t let me down.

i have friends who have the convection microwave oven but i don’t think the efect is the same – i still prefer the traditional oven. I guess it depends on what you’re using it for ie baking, grilling, heating up etc but for a normal sized family, i’d say get the bigger models instead of the single tray compact types.

as for the brands, yeah there are so many on the market and some have really nice designs but just go for what you need and at the price that’s right for you πŸ™‚

i’ve got a highly under-used samsung convection microwave oven at home, which is alot easier to clean compared to traditional built-in ovens.

Currently, I am also planning to buy an oven, built-in gas hob, and a hood. I have narrowed down a few brands for oven, must have self cleaning function for me:1)RHOYXON(Italian with cooling fan, supposedly to keep oven handle and door cool and I’m looking for someone who has this oven to tell me if it really is the case),
    2)ELECTROLUX model EOB6697X 3) FUJIHOME

For hob, does anyone use the PACIFIC (Taiwan) brand? Any problem with the fan clogging up with the self cleaning models?
