I can now proudly say that I’ve been to Kuala Terengganu!!! Yipeee!!! We departed from KLIA around 8.10am. The weather at Sepang was just nice with the sun rising at the horizon. It was my first time sitting beside plane’s window. Don’t know why I’m always the unlucky one to sit in the middle of the plane(seat) in all my oversea trips. Grrrrr. So being a first-timer, I was mesmerized. No comment on AirAsia as it was pleasant(with the price we paid).

It was drizzling when we reached Sultan Mahmod Airport after a 50 minutes ride. Neither big nor outrageous, the airport external is undergoing construction. Our car rental for the day is a blue Wira 1.5(A). I was the first to drive and we stopped over just outside the airport for a loo session at a surau. God!!! There was a ‘baby’ lizard in the back seat of the car. Dreamcatcher saved our day! Hip hip hooray!!! Oh God again because this was my first experience driving a Proton car and for some unknown reason this car was low….way low until we felt so small and ‘ketot’. Even cars like Kancil, Myvi and motorcycle over shadowed us. And that car was so under-power. I drove at 70km/h the whole time and all the cars behind me over-took us. I love the roads at KT. They were easy to navigate and less traffic. Maybe because it was a weekend. I thought Terengganu’s weekend falls on Thursday and Friday. Hmmm…Will clarify with Duchess once she comes back.
Our first mission was to find a place for breakfast. Amazing as most of the shops were still closed at around 9am. Luckily we found a stall along the road. We had Nasi Dagang with veggie, fish and fried egg for breakfast. The Nasi Dagang is white in color and the taste was heavenly except that it was cold. Too bad. Unfortunately they forgot about the 2 chicken thighs that Dreamcatcher and Saoirse ordered.

Our next plan was to visit Songket and Batik making shop and Pasar Besar aka Pasar Payang. Unfortunately we didn’t drop by Pasar Besar because it was just a market. I thought it was more than that. Pasar Besar is located along the ‘muara’ KT’s river. Istana Makziah is just somewhere opposite Pasar Besar. Also we can’t find any Songket and Batik making shop. Then we decided to go to Malaysia Tourism Board to check out what’s hot in KT. By this time Dreamcatcher was going nutty because the ocean was somewhere near. She loves the ocean so much.
While finding Malaysia Tourism Board(MTB), we made a wrong turn and end up on a road with cemetery on both sides. Hahahaha There were Islam, Chinese and Christian cemeteries located side by side. When we found the road that MTB was supposed to be located (according to our newly purchased map the day before) there were no MTB to be seen. What man!!! Did I tell you that finding a petrol station in KT was like finding a needle in a hay-sack? We then proceed to Pasar Besar again because according to the lady at the petrol station, MTB is located opposite Pasar Besar and near Istana Makziah. When we reached there, a man told us that MTB has shifted to a new building in another road. Grrrrrrrrr So off we went again to find MTB. Ohh gosh guess what ? we found MTB but it was closed!!! Can you believe it ? By then it was around 11.30am so we decided to attend Duchess wedding first.
I enjoyed myself at Duchess wedding. From the food, girls talk, makeup, beautiful wedding dress(blue theme), beautiful Duchess, ‘upacara percik’, arrival of the groom, 2 tier blue cake and many more. Look at the pictures below and you will know what I mean.

After the wedding we proceed to Kampung Losong to purchase the ever famous Keropok Losong. Keropok Losong is Keropok Lekor but shaped like a sausage and is either steamed or boiled. Yum yum! Next we went to Pulau Duyong to watch the boad-building process.

Next we went to Tengku Tengah Zaharah Mosque which coincidently is located just beside Batu Buruk Beach. This mosque was surrounded by a lake thus it was also known as Floating Mosque. We didn’t stay long because Dreamcatcher is getting impatient. So off we go to the ‘beach’. Wow it was so windy, cold and of course drizzling. The sea was so rough. We went to 3 different location of Batu Buruk Beach as the first 2 times we encountered heavy downpour. We ate A&W for our dinner before heading out to the beach for the 3rd time. BAD LUCK yet again! As heavy rain begans to fall. We end up curling up in the car beside the beach while waiting for the rain to subside. Ahh the rain never stop falling. No swimming and no playing in the sea. :( We did went out for a while just to get close to the sea. Dreamcatcher was so gloomy. Me too man, me too.

At around 7.30pm we began our journey to KT airport and eventually home. Sad to leave KT. If I have another chance to go Terengganu I will go to Pasar Besar and the islands. :) I was dead tired on the way home. ZZZZzzzzzz…

Wow. What a nice coverage. Hmm.. too bad during my wedding four years ago, we didnt know about blogging ya. Haha. Btw, Tganu’s weekend days are Friday and Sunday. And the ‘upacara percik’ is actually called “upacara tepung tawar”. Pasar Payang is actually a nice place to shop.

Next time, when checking in, request for window seat. They’ll arrange for you one :). If it’s AirAsia, then rush in from the back door, higher chance of getting that window seat. Nice photos!

Nayan Peshkar, sorry I don’t have their contact no. But not to worry ok? When you touch down at KT airport, there are quite many car for hire agents there.
