Hey hey! I’m officially an owner of a brand new digital camera. Suprise suprise…we bought Panasonic Lumix FX-9(silver color)!!! Believe it or not, we visited 13 shops in 2 days(within 20 hours) plus 6 phone calls and finally we settled on this shop called Trillion Photo Sdn Bhd at Mid Valley.
The first shop we visited was Canon Concept Store at KLCC. We took a peek at Ixus 55 and evaluated the images taken at the PC. Hmmm ‘boleh tahan’. For the next few shops we checked out Ixus 55 and Lumix FX-9 but mainly for FX-9 because I prefer Lumix than Ixus and because I was doing the talking. Kekeke…My sister started to get into a very ‘bad mood’ after the first shop because all I talked about was IXUS LUMIX!!!. Almost all the shops at KLCC quoted Lumix FX-9 at RM1699. Some come with 1Gb and others with 256Mb or 512Mb SD memory card. If we add 1 extra battery and 512Mb card, the price will be RM18xx. Expensive!
Then we found out at one of the shop that Lumix’s battery can last longer than Ixus’s battery by around 120 photos before the battery run out. From there on, my heart is settle for Lumix. :) Besides, FX-9 LCD’s is more bright and vibrant.
How I managed to persuade my sister ? It was rough man! All the way from KLCC to SS2,PJ my car’s rooftop was carrying a very gray looking cloud. At one of the shop, a nice lady told sis and me that quality wise, Lumix and Olympus are better than Ixus. I had no idea whether she was telling the truth or because she supports both brands more than Canon but she save my life from thunderstorm and tsunami. The gray storm has lifted. Yipeee…ohh btw this lady quoted us RM1490(free 512Mb, case and protective LCD cover) + RM300(for extra 512Mb and 1 battery). We almost bought our first digi cam from her but unfortunately she has ran out of Lumix.
So off we went looking at Subang Parade but we did not managed to get a better deal than the lady has to offers. Then on Sunday, we checked out Lumix’s price at KL Plaza and then Mid Valley. And of course we get a better deal in Mid Valley and the rest is history…
Lumix FX-9(free 512Mb, case, protective LCD cover, tripod, extra strap, free 4R 400 prints) = RM1500
1x 512Mb + 1x Panasonic original battery = RM250
In total, our Lumix costs = RM1750(I guess not bad after 2 days of hard work)
The lowest FX-9 price that I received was RM1350(one of the shop) but when I totalled up, the overall price is more than RM1800. If you don’t plan to buy extra memory card or battery, etc you can go to this shop.
I’m soooooooooooo happy right now! From now on, all picts posted in this blog will be using Lumix FX-9. :D

p/s: There’s rumour that FX-10 will be launch in a couple of month. Additional stuff added are manual function, optical viewfinder and zooming function in recording function.

Lumix wins with Che-Cheh veto votes [finally] hehehe… Hopefully worth buying and investment yaa. Waiting for more Chester and his owner higher pixel pictures here. Wonder why Nikon not in ur list mate. If you have 13 shop visited, for such investment … Maybe I’ll go for ALL camera shop in town - asal puas hati right ;)

I’ve tried Fujifilm, Nikon and Olympus myself, and had tried Canon, Panasonic and Sony on extended loans from friends - guess what - they each have their own plus points, so whatever makes you happy - that’s the right camera !! :)

I guess not. :( Wu Ching, TQ TQ…me LIHAI!!! thank god I only went to Honda and Toyota before I bought my new car nearly 1 year ago. LcF, I think I’m a ’si lai’ consumer. :D 9T9, Nikon is not in my list becoz I keep thinking of Lumix only and I compared to Canon because Canon is a tad little bit more famous than others.
