About 2 years ago, a book that goes by the name THE DA VINCI CODE was announced to be made into film. Since then hundreds and thousands of Dan Brown’s fans have been waiting patiently for its release and I was no less the same.
Thanks to Dreamcatcher
, she managed to secured 3 seats(4th from front!!!) on the 2nd day of it’s release in Malaysia. It was a sold out night and nobody complaint about neck pain.

I’m not gonna describe the story but instead tell you what I feel about the movie. Hold on, if you haven’t watch this movie but plan to watch it please don’t read anymore. BIG spoilers ahead!!! You have been forewarned!!!
So here goes,
1. Definitely the book is better.
2. I rate this movie B+ but it was a forgettable movie. Sorry Ron Howard.
3. The start of the movie was like a bullet train. Too fast pace. They made the decoding part look so easy! Bah…
4. No chemistry between the actors.
5. Disappointed at Silas’ appearance. You can only see a faint hint of albino and he doesn’t even look evil, more to pity.

6. I kinda like Tom Hanks’ look but I think they’ve got the wrong actress to portray Sophie Neveu.
7. For me, the highlight of the movie was when Teabing explained the Holy Grail and Priory of Sion to Sophie at his home, Chateau Villette.
8. The lamest part of the movie was when Robert Langdon tell Sophie Neveu that she is from the ‘bloodline of Jesus Christ’ or something like that. I heard a couple of chuckle in the cinema. I think this is one of the many parts where the book and movie are totally different.
I think I’m going to reread the Da Vinci Code. Just to clear my head off several things from the movie.
So, what’s your take of this movie ?
p/s: Angels and Demons(Dan Brown’s 3rd book) would have been a greater story if not for the fame name given to Dan Brown’s 4th book, ‘The Da Vinci Code‘.

yeah, i agree that A&D is a much better book than DVC, but the latter is has more controversy, which makes it more popular because it sells better. actually, i dont think its fair to compare the movie with the book.

Dreamcatcher, nope I didn’t imagine Sophie will be sultry or sexy…but this Sophie is toooooo dull, pokerfaced, etc…when you look at her you will feel sad too.

Hmm.. Ron Howard should choose me as Sophie then, instead of Audrey (what’s her name?)? Hehehe.

I watched it last Friday, gave a B+ too. Before going for the movie I watched some documentaries from National Geographic, hence can understand even though haven’t read the book. I think for both movie and book, there are quite a lot of interesting insight to ponder upon. I always have the same thought that when we look at a painting (even in real life) we see what we want to see and don’t see what we don’t want to see.
