Hell breaks loose as soon as we reformat our hard drive. I think we formatted the hard drive nearly 20 times and everytime we encountered different kind of problems like PC hang, files missing, files cannot be copied, IRQ error, windows file corrupted and no activity from CD(our boot drive).
I also tried a couple of different configurations such as remove 3rd party hardware, disconnect and reconnect CD drive’s and hard drive and change master/slave configurations between CD and DVD drives.
At last we decided to buy a new hard drive. Sis planned to buy another hard drive for a long time now to act as a backup drive. Now’s the chance to get one. Remember our digital camera adventure? This is something like it. We went to Sunway Pyramid and asked every computer shops we come across. We had Seagate and Western Digital as our preferred brands and almost every shops quoted us nearly the same price. At the very last shop, I told sis to just buy from that shop la!
So here’s our new 80GB Western Digital Caviar 7200rpm 8MB harddisk drive. It cost us RM180.
We went home and tried to reformat our old drive one last time and when it wouldn’t work we replaced it with the new one. All went well during the formatting process but something went wrong again during copying files. Oh shit!!! 
I took out the new hard drive and replace it back(in case I fit in wrongly the first time) and we had our 4 hands busy crossing fingers.
And the most wonderful thing happened…..at my PC monitor it reads WELCOME TO WINDOWS XP! I jumped and skipped for joy.
I’m happy and content at last. Our pc works fine now. As for the old hard drive, our friend confirmed that it’s spoilt. So there…into the rubbish dump it goes.
