Loh Sang

Chinese New Year is less than 2 weeks (OHMYGOD! panic attack) and I’ve already had a taste of ‘Yee Sang’. devil

Yee Sang

Yee Sang is literally translated as raw fish but for Chinese it means abundance and prosperity. Yee Sang is a Chinese-style raw fish salad with salmon as the main ingredient. It is usually mix with shredded vegetables, various type of spices and sauce, jellyfish, pomelo and crackers.

Loh Sang means the act of tossing salad. For Chinese it means gathering prosperity. Auspicious wishes are usually uttered during the tossing (eg. wish all of us with good health) and we usually toss as high as possible (to reach for the stars!) using a pair of chopsticks.

Me and my friends decided to have an early Loh Sang celebration so that we could have an early auspicious year. Kinda greedy if you must say. Hehehe.

The aftermath of Loh Sang:

Loh Sang

What makes it even more wonderful is that we had several games of ‘chor tai tee’, name calling card game, UNO! (can you believe it?) and lotsa laughter…the kind of laughter that makes you grasp for more air intake. laughing
