“Chester, chung leong lo”
“Chester, chang chui lo”
Upon hearing these 4 little words (doesn’t matter in English or Cantonese or Hokkien) he’ll start off with wagging his lovely bushy tail. Wush wush wishhh…Then he’ll follow me around while I grab his bathing stuff: towel (deer-skin), shampoo and brush.

To tell you the truth, I hate bathing him. He needs about 3 hours or more to dry completely. Nope, I couldn’t leave him alone outside. He’ll lie down on the floor….eeee dirty la.
Funny thing is Chester loves water during bathing time ONLY. Other than that, he’ll try to ignore any water game as much as possible. Golden retrievers are renowned for their love of water…but my golden? Weird la. Hmm at least he allows me to wash his 4 paws after our daily stroll. And just recently he disregarded the pouring rain because he was on a ‘Must Catch Rat’ mission. The mission was unsuccessful but he came back in feeling satisfied. How do I know? I read from his body language lo.
Okay another reason I don’t like to bath him is that he loves to lick shampoo foam. No matter how loud or piercing I yell he’ll continue to lick everywhere… from his paws, his body, my hand, shampoo cap, brush. Aiyoyooo I look like a mad lady.

After bath, I don’t towels dry him immediately. He’ll need to ‘shake his bon-bon’ (shake off excessive water) before I can award him THE TOWEL because he loves to bite it. GRRRrrrr…Well, actually he mastered the command ‘shake your bon-bon’ because I used his towel to threaten tempt him last time. No shake bon-bon then no towel munching.
Nowadays we don’t bath him very often (weekly). It’s more like every fortnight or umphh hehehe every month! Our reasoning is that we don’t want to wash off his fur’s natural oil ma but actually we’re lazy. And we always blame the bad weather because if it’s cloudy or less sunny then we’ll tell him “Chester no sun la. So next week we chang chui ok?”
His heart must’ve been broken into a million pieces but he has never showed us that. Instead he smiles cheerfully at us.

my dogs last time were rather indifferent towards bath time. they never struggled or ran away or lick shampoo foam while i’m bathing them. instead they would stand patiently under the tap because they know that they can roll in around in the garden after that as reward. yeah, i know it makes bathing them pointless.

I too have a dog, but not as cool as your Chester, and not as steady as your Chester during bathing. A nice dog.

I dislike bathing my dogs. I always feels like I am the one being bath in the end. They shake their bon-bon too much and too early AND too fast for me to escape the water *roll eyes*. Chester is so darn cute all wet and sexy.

Kleio, Chester listen to ’shake your bon-bon’ command after bath only. During bathing time? I still kena soak.
