Do I look tough? Of cozie! I’m King Chester. WOOF!
The other day, Chester accidentally scratched my hand when I was trying to dry his fur. He loves biting his bath towel and that day he was exceptionally naughty. He behaved like an angel after my *&#!$@ scolding. And no I don’t beat dogs.
He behaves so nicely during our evening walk too. Most of the time he’ll drag me here and there (yes a sign that say he’s the king and I’m the slave), but these past days he walks beside me under my heal command.
Look what happened when you let your furry friend take over your position as the pack leader aka alpha position in your home.
Don’t worry about my hand. No blood. Just some scratches. Later it became blue black like above.
To all doggie slaves owners, don’t ever let your doggie friend climb on top of your head. Dogs are pack animal. In a household, you must establish your position as the leader of the pack. If not you’ll be in deep shit trouble for having to deal with their behavioral problem.
These are my ways to establish oneself as the alpha of the pack.
1. Maintain eye contact by staring at each other. Refrain from blinking and averting your eyes. If you do that then it confirms your dog’s alpha position. So whatever happen, try to tahan from blinking and look at your dog’s eyes until he look somewhere else. Then you win. Hehehe
2. Pat your dog’s body instead of their head. Patting your dog’s head means you confirm his status as the alpha dog. I read this from somewhere but then I really can’t help it. I love patting Chester’s head. Kwai kwai…
3. Discipline! This is the most important point to note. A dog that abide commands indicate you’re the boss and he’s the slave. Practice with them using command like sit, stay, come, etc in their day to day activity. For e.g. before feeding your dog, ask him to sit.
Hope this piece of post can help new dog owners and serve as a reminder to ‘old-time’ owners like myself.
