Look at this picture and tell me what you can conclude from it.
The person is a really messy eater. Yes I know that because that’s me! 
I’m not always like that okay?
Can you see the light brown thinner-than-a-stick stuff on the table? That’s golden needle mushroom (enoki in Japanese or Kam Cham Ku in Cantonese). I hate that stuff. My mom hate that stuff. My dad too hate that stuff. The only enoki-lover in my family is my sister.
The reason I hate it so much is because I can’t seem to break down that stuff even after a few minutes of munching. Mom and dad say they will swallow it but the end result that exit from your body won’t be that pleasant.
Mom speaking from her experience “I have to pull that stuff out every time.”
“They can’t seem to digest. Once I thought what’s so geli down there.” Dad adding in.
Because I don’t want to experience like what they’ve experienced, I try not eat enoki.
How do you separate enoki and yee mee in a pot of steamboat? Difficult as hell right? Now you know why la.

Hmmm.. It’s not so bad in bak kut teh but I don’t like it deep-fried in the tempura batter. Somehow, it has that nasty smell once it’s fried. Maybe the BKT soup has “covered” the smell of the enoki mushroom? :P
