Let me show you in a series of shots how my dog Chester, a golden retriever use food as a protesting tool to get affection from me (a disguise actually).
Dinner time is always like this: Chester protesting beside his food bowl. He doesn’t want to finish his food no matter how many times I say “Chester, FINISH YOUR FOOD!”. He’s showing his classic koh lian look (pitiful look).
While patting him I say “Come on Chester good boy. Finish your food ar.” Then he begins to munch some. The moment I stop touching and giving him encouragement he stops as well.
He’s again showing his koh lian look.
So again I give him some encouragement such as “If you finish your food, I give you cookie!”, “Good boy ohh”…
Sometimes he will purposely remain 1 last piece of kibble on the plate. I will try shoving the piece into his mouth but he will spit it out showing me his disgusted look…with his tongue out as well as in saying “Yuck, ptui”. That is really something! 
So now he has finished his food but eh wait….why is he standing there? Don’t you know golden retrievers are smart dogs? He’s standing in front of his treasure room… waiting for treats!
Still can’t see the picture how he manipulate me? He wants me to know that he finish all his food with great difficulty when I’m right beside him so that I can award him treats. Something like ‘he performs a trick liao so he should get a treat! In this case, ‘finish unfavorable’ 
food liao, so he’s waiting for his treat?’
Smart dog eh?

Chester very geng. My dogs pretty much inhale their food the moment after we give them the command to eat. Labs are food hounds!

Great job Chester!!!! I think I’ll do a post one day about the “mind-control” mechanism I put over the hoomans. The thing is, my adik Rusty is starting to figure that out too!!
