Gmarket… ahhh I LOVE YA!

What’s Gmarket? Gmarket is Korean no. 1 online shopping site and it’s my current favorite place to look for good deals. I first learned about Gmarket when I was following Faith 신의 novel news. At that time I thought Gmarket cater for books only. Later in another blog, I found out Gmarket offer a lot of other cool products from Korea such as apparel, accessories, beauty, electronics and so much more.

Basically Gmarket consist of many sellers. Each sellers will then send your order to Gmarket warehouse. Once all items has arrived at the warehouse, they will be packed and combine into 1 box and ship to you. How do you pay for your stuff? Either by credit card or Paypal.

For my 1st Gmarket haul, I bought a total of 10 items. Oh yeah… is that crazy or what? Some of them are SUPER DUPER cheap especially beauty products because I bought them during deals of the week. Seriously I cannot belief they would offer such prices. Are they crazy? Haha Read on below and you’ll know what I mean.

Here’s a breakdown of events from ordering to receiving for my 1st Gmarket order:
Placed order on 13th Feb.
All items arrived at Gmarket warehouse by 18th/19th Feb.
Shipment dispatched from Gmarket warehouse on 19th Feb.
Parcel left Korea on 20th Feb.
Released from Malaysia custom on 21st Feb.
Received 22nd Feb from Poslaju.
Total time: 9 days (this is during CNY, quite fast ya?)

Gmarket Parcel

Box weight: 5.22kg, no. of items: 10
EMS shipping cost: ₩27,750 (About RM79.00)

Gmarket Parcel Content

My loot! As you can see the items were packed very neatly. Some are in bubble wraps too.

Check out my loot below:
(Note: for the links given below, some of the products may have changed-no longer available)
1. 502 Alexa 알렉사 Bag
Color: Beige
Price: ₩19,700 (normal price is ₩24,800). It’s about RM56.00.
Seller: 스타백스 (Starbags)
URL: http://english.gmarket.co.kr/challenge/neo_goods/goods.asp?goodscode=182207279

Alexa Bag
When I got this bag I wasn’t really thrill with the design compared to when I was looking at the online catalog. I’m happy with the quality though. The bag is made of soft material and the main compartment is very spacey. I can even expand the bag if I ever run out of space. It’s not bad for a RM56 bag. After using this bag for a couple of days, gotta say I love it to bits. I fell in love with the design again and I like the overall look of this bag and its usability. Very satisfied!

2. 캘리 NB Blouse
Color: Wine 와인 (red)
Size: Free
Price: ₩16,900. About RM48.00.
Seller: 마크막스 (Mak Maks)
URL: http://english.gmarket.co.kr/challenge/neo_goods/goods.asp?goodscode=219779018

캘리 NB Blouse
This blouse is made of rayon and surprisingly the material is quite thick. I only wore it briefly for testing so I can’t comment much. Bad news: one of the buttons were sewn out of place. Aishh. Where’s the QC?

Update: The blouse color washout after first wash. After I re-sew the button, the blouse looks good again. It has become my favorite blouse. It’s very soft and comfy surprisingly!

3. 리턴 Blouse
Color: Pink 핑크 (actual color is beige)
Size: Free
Price: ₩14,900. About RM42.50.
Seller: 마크막스 (Mak Maks)
URL: http://english.gmarket.co.kr/challenge/neo_goods/goods.asp?goodscode=219779018

리턴 Blouse
This blouse from the same seller is made from poly (polyester I suppose). It fits me just fine… a little tight actually. Love the design but not really a fan of the color. Sometimes I feel myself sinking into the blouse because the color eats me out! Haha Reason I got both blouses because I like the sleeve-button-on design. Not a fan of the material though. I prefer the material from my red blouse above.

4. 7789-50a 포모 Pomo Ballet Pumps (flats)
Color: 그레이 (gray)
Size: 240 (Europe 38)
Price: ₩12,800 (normal price is ₩18,800). About RM36.50.
Seller: 러브앤시티 (Love And City)
URL: http://english.gmarket.co.kr/challenge/neo_goods/goods.asp?goodscode=221023467

Pomo Ballerina Flat Pumps
The moment I saw this ballerina flat, I knew I must buy it. And the moment my eyes lays on this real thing, I knew I have made the right choice. So cute and pretty! The cushioned insole and the overall shoe are made of soft material. Very comfy. As for the size fitting… it’s perfect. Fyi I’m size 38 and also 39 (european) depending on cutting. 240 is Korean shoe size.

5. 88-1 송드리 Ballet Pumps (flats)
Color: 그레이 (gray)
Size: 245 (Europe 39)
Price: ₩12,800 (normal price is ₩18,800). About RM36.50.
Seller: 러브앤시티 (Love And City)
URL: http://english.gmarket.co.kr/challenge/neo_goods/goods.asp?goodscode=221023467

Peak Ballerina Flat Pumps
This is another lovely one. My first choice is actually black but they were out of stock. I’ve never bought gray shoes before. So this is 2 in a row. I choose size 39 since 38 has no more stock. It fits me fine too. The insole is made of furry material, so it’s not really a good thing for me as my feet can be sweaty. But I don’t care! Hahaha

6. 618-58 피크 Peak Boots
Color: 브라운 (brown)
Size: 245 (Europe 39)
Price: ₩19,800 (normal price is ₩25,800). About RM56.50.
Seller: 러브앤시티 (Love And City)
URL: http://english.gmarket.co.kr/challenge/neo_goods/goods.asp?goodscode=221023467

Boots
It looks not bad right? It’s even better when I wear it. Though I find the cutting to be a bit weird at some places. This shoe is meant for cold weather country as the insole is made of fur. Not a good choice to wear in Malaysia. I’ll be testing it when I go for my next vacation (hopefully la).

7. Snail Refresh Foam Cleanser
Promotion: Buy 1 get 2 free
Price: ₩7,900 (normal price is ₩16,900). About RM22.60.
Seller: 쿠지 직영샵 (Coogi Shop)
URL: http://english.gmarket.co.kr/challenge/neo_goods/goods.asp?goodscode=300969349

Snail Refresh Foam Cleanser
So basically each cleanser cost only RM6.90. Cheap ohhh!!! Oh yes SNAIL. If you don’t know, snail beauty product is currently very HOT in Korea. The cleanser smell is not bad too. I like it. Currently I’m using this cleanser and alternate it with my oil cleansing regime. I’ve left Body Shop cleanser to rot somewhere.

8. Snail+EGF Repairing Mask Pack
Quantity: 20 pieces
Price: ₩7,900 (normal price is ₩25,000). About RM22.60.
Seller: 시크릿키 본사직영 (Secret Key)
URL: http://english.gmarket.co.kr/challenge/neo_goods/goods.asp?goodscode=251071309

Snail+EGF Repairing Mask Pack
Another super cheap haul. 20 pieces of mask for only RM22.60. Wohooo. I’ve tried it and like it too. At some point I feel some heat on my face. Not sure that’s a good or bad thing.

9. All In One Snail Repair Cream 75ml
Price: ₩1,060 (normal price is ₩19,000). About RM3.00.
Seller: 미즈온 직영샵 (Mizon)
URL: http://english.gmarket.co.kr/challenge/neo_goods/goods.asp?goodscode=329325115

All In One Snail Repair Cream
Don’t rub your eyes. There’s no typo mistake. This snail repair cream cost only RM3.00!!! BEST.DEAL.EVER. The promotion was meant for oversea customer and each person can only order 1 unit. Too bad the deal has ended. I’ve seen some improvement on my skin after just a couple of days. Will need to see how it goes over the long haul. Which part of snail does the main ingredient come from? Snail slime. Hahaha

10. Snail Repair Intensive Ampoule 30ml
Price: ₩12,900 (normal price is ₩23,400). About RM36.80.
Seller: 미즈온 직영샵 (Mizon)
URL: http://english.gmarket.co.kr/challenge/neo_goods/goods.asp?goodscode=261485156

Snail Repair Intensive Ampoule
Because I wanted to give the snail range a thorough try, I got this as well as a continuation regime after using the All In One Snail Repair Cream above. Let’s see how both products does in the long run. So far so good la. :)

Overall, I’m really happy with my purchases except for the red blouse button matter. Can’t wait to order more stuff from Gmarket. Hehehe A tip when buying at Gmarket: Make sure you read the customers’ reviews so you know the overall opinion for that particular seller and its products. Ohh btw I wish they would offer standard shipping. EMS shipping is a lil’ expensive but of course fast.

Fyi Gmarket is founded by a Korean in 1999 and 10 years later it was acquired by ebay. So in short Gmarket is a subsidiary of ebay Korea. And I just found out in Singapore, Japan, Malaysia and Indonesia, Gmarket is rebranded as Qoo10. Unfortunately products prices at Qoo10 are so much more expensive than Gmarket. Taking in the product price+shipping cost, I rather shop at Gmarket.

So what are you waiting for? Head to Gmarket now. The site may be in English but there are some Korean languages as well. Don’t worry you’ll get the hang of it once you know how to move around. Or you could ask me. Hehe

Do you really order those who shows the ‘worldwide shipping’ ? Cause i have a lot of stuff to buy (esp korean books) but most of the seller does not show the ‘worldwide shipping’ …. ㅠㅠ

Reply

Che-Cheh April 15, 2013 at 8:30 am

Hi Amy, if they don’t show ‘worldwide shipping’ means they only ship domestically (South Korea).

How to purchase from korea? can you write a post about it?

Che-Cheh July 8, 2013 at 10:54 pm

Hi May, the Gmarket website is in English mostly. So it’s quite easy to navigate. Exception is when you need to order, the items name mostly are in Korean. So you need to compare the writing/symbol to match with the one you want. Sometimes they will have number or code, that one is easier to order.

I might write about it but not so soon. Feel free to email me if you have any other questions. Cheers!
