Chinese New Year Chrysanthemums

A visit to plant nursery is necessary whenever Chinese New Year is coming. We buy potted plants and flowers to beautify our home. With only a week left to CNY, all I saw mostly at my regular plant nursery is chrysanthemum. I didn’t buy the mums though instead I bought 2 other flowering plants which I’ve no idea of their names and a lime plant. Haha

To me, chrysanthemum has always been a regular flower. A flower that’s too normal to my liking. However I’m starting to appreciate its beauty more in recent years. I searched the web for the reason why chrysanthemum is a favorite choice during CNY and come to a zero conclusion. LOL There are various reason stated such as nobility, longevity, perfection, joy… Mmmm thinking hard, I guess chrysanthemum symbolizes all the above. πŸ˜‰

Let’s appreciate the beauty of chrysanthemums…

2012 Chinese New Year Decorations @ Kuan Yin Temple, Klang

Happy Chinese New Year!

I went to Kuan Yin Temple in Klang few days back. This temple is usually very pack but because it was dinner time, we had no problem finding parking (wohoo). We arrived to the sound of the monks praying, their voices heard through the loudspeakers. It was also a very windy evening. Everyone had difficult time lighting the candles (what a challenge!) and then in the end the wind blew them off (all of it… haha).

Let’s check out some of the Chinese New Year decoration in Kuan Yin Temple, Klang.

Chinese New Year Flowers 2010

Few weeks back I visited a plant nursery looking for some new pots and soils. The nursery is situated on a hill overlooking a busy main road. The place however makes you feel like you’re somewhere else… ummm like you’re in Cameron Highlands! Haha

I informed the owner of my interest in photographing the nursery as the place is so beautiful and serene. I was told to come back early February as there will be new flowers and plants coming in for Chinese New Year.

So here I am on the 31st January armed with my trusty D80. Initially I was using my kit lens (as I was shooting something else prior to this) but half way decided to change to my favorite 50mm f/1.8 lens because I just love bokeh. Haha

Note: Do click at the pictures for larger size. They’re pretty in big. πŸ˜‰
