Note: I repaired my almost 5 years old laptop. Apparently the culprit is the chipset. Cost me RM310. At least that’s better than getting a new laptop.
So after coming back by bus from Jinhae’s cherry blossom viewing, we proceed right away to Jagalchi Market in Busan. Jagalchi Market (자갈치시장) is a famous seafood market in Busan accessible easily by subway.

The funny thing about walking pass these stalls is that the place doesn’t smell of horrid seafood. Instead it smells of the sea! That’s how fresh these seafood are.
Raw fermented crabs in chili paste and soy sauce. I have tried raw fermented baby crabs in chili paste from a restaurant’s side dish but they’re not the same as these. These are big and juicy crabs.

Then we came to the end of the open-air Jagalchi market with a harbor right beside the market. Ahh no wonder the seafood are so fresh and abundance.
This building right in front of the open sea is the indoor Jagalchi market. Huge right?
Long rows of stall all selling seafood. What else right? This is one of the sight I often see on Korean dramas.
It looks a bit deserted right? Must be wrong timing. We were there at 5pm.
Buy these seafood and bring home to cook or if you’re lazy, you can bring the seafood to the restaurant above this floor and have them cook for you. I did neither as I’m quite sick of seafood after my Yongmeori Coast episode.

After Jagalchi Market, we decided to venture further and come to Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) Square. Can you see the row of food stalls?
The BIFF Square also boost hand prints of famous movie stars.
This is hotteok (sweet Korean pancake)… one of my favorite street food. If you’re eager to make your own hotteok, check out my recipe in Messy Witchen.
This hotteok is called ssiat hotteok which consist of nuts as filling.

More yummy hawker fare. There’s tteokbokki, mandu and mayak kimbap.
All kind of hats!!! This is at Gukje Market which is just a stone throw away from Jagalchi Market. Tempted to buy one but then decided not to since I’m not a hat person.
Korean beddings shop. That’s all I snap of Gukje Market because after that I was so busy. Busy shopping for clothes. Haha
Then we came to more food stall near Gukje Market. We were particularly attracted to this stall.
The 3 of us decided to share a plate of jji jim 찌짐 (something very similar to spring onions pancake-pajeon) @ 2,000 won (RM6.00). What can I say? Piping hot and delicious. Should have ordered more!
Before leaving BIFF Square, we bought this freshly grilled octopus @ 5,000 won (RM15.00). No doubt it’s delicious.
By the time we reached back at Seomyeon subway (nearest subway to our accommodation) at 8pm, we were really tired. Since I was a little bored with Korean food, we decided to have fast food at Lotteria. Lotteria is a Korean fast food restaurant. I had no idea that Korean has their very own fast food restaurant until I found out about it here. We ordered tender grill chicken burger @ 3,900 won (RM11.70) and…
Wild shrimp burger @ 4,500 won (RM13.50).
It was delicious alright. There are some non-grounded shrimp in the patty as well.
After dinner, we returned to our hostel. That’s it for day 5. More to come. 🙂

If I’m not mistaken, it’s the largest market in Korea.
Grilled octopus? Looks yummy. That plate of jji jim looks delicious too! So did you get to buy lots of clothes? 🙂
In total I bought over 10 clothes. Consider a lot lo. I don’t usually buy clothes during holiday trip but because it’s so cheap here… so must buy lo.
i gather if you are a seafood type of person, the array of seafood is a welcome sight. the grilled octopus looked so crunchy and yummy. The same in Turkey, there was abundant of fish; never had so so much fish in my entire life in the 3 weeks. If it’s not fish, it’s lamb.
I think I will have a problem if I go to Turkey. I don’t eat lamb. Too much fish daily also will feel muak.
