Great Ocean Road Self-Drive Day 4: Anglesea, Aireys Inlet’s Split Point Lighthouse & Lorne
Great Ocean Road Self-Drive Day 4: Stunning Great Ocean Views, Apollo Bay, Almost Cape Otway Lightstation & Wild Animals!

Sorry for the long break in this travelogue. I was busy with work and had to oversee renovation job in my home. I might post something about it later.

As you know from my previous post, I gotta pee really soon. And yet I hang on as I know another town is coming.

Dark clouds is looming nearby.

Rays of hope.

Lovely clouds greeting us.

Country side view.

As you can see The Great Ocean Road after Otway National Park is a pleasure to drive at. No tall trees and ‘evil’ jungle as if they want to swallow you. Haha

At the junction of The Great Ocean Road and C155 (to Colac and Otway Fly Treetop Walk) in Lavers Hill.

A lovely restaurant at Lavers Hill.

So Lavers Hill came and went without any signs of loo. By then I have controlled my pee for almost an hour.

Then I did the unthinkable.

I told my sis to prepare a plastic bag (with no holes) and then I stopped the car and let my sis drive. We’re running out of time (5.12pm) and even with my needs to pee we gotta move on. Twelve Apostles is 40 minutes away still!!!

What I did next may sound crazy to you. But when a person need to ‘go’, go he/she must!

So I did what I have to do (at the back seat) armed with a plastic bag. Muahahahaha This may be the craziest thing I’ve done so far. Hehehe

Ahh I felt so good after that. Hahahaha We stopped the car to get rid of the ‘water’ and on we went.

The place I dump my pee. Of course I need to take a picture of this place… to remember the crazy thing I did in Great Ocean Road! Haha

The road is really really quite now. With only 1 or 2 cars – not at our direction but at the opposite direction.

And yet we felt alright as the road is almost straight forward.
Occasionally we will see cows and lambs munching the greens by the road.

I’m not sure when we passed Princetown (the last town before Port Campbell National Park) but no matter as we’re concentrating on getting to our destination on time… before night fall! LOL

Suddenly I saw something reassuring…

Ahh I can see the ocean. Can you see it? We’re coming!!!

I must say the clouds are really good to us.

They gave us spectacular show. Thank you nature!

Sky is turning gold! The time was 5.45pm.

As the sun is setting on the front right, we get a beautiful silhouette shot of a tractor transporting bale of hays on The Great Ocean Road.

Cows by The Great Ocean Road.

We reached Port Campbell National Park region at 5.48pm. Yahoo! Now to find where to go view the Twelve Apostles.

We got our wish for a beautiful sunset. If only we’re there already.

Can you see the rock formation already? We’re so near!

Then we came to a signage written there ‘Port Campbell National Park’ or was it ‘Port Campbell Visitor Center’? hmm… something like that with a building on the right. However we’re not sure whether this is the place to view Twelve Apostles as the ocean is on the left of the road. My sis had already put on the signal to prepare turn right. However we decided to continue on. It’s illogical!!! How does turning into the right lead us to Twelve Apostles which is situated on the left?

After few minutes of driving, we still couldn’t see any sign for the viewing of Twelve Apostles. Somehow I knew we have drove pass the Twelve Apostles. But where the heck is that car park???

Then something wonderful happened. A kangaroo hopped and crosses The Great Ocean Road into the bushes. It happened so fast. And it disappear just like that in a blink of an eye. Surreal I must say. And the bonus? It was carrying a baby kangaroo in its pouch! We were ecstatic for sure and that gave us more reason not to give up.

We drove on again concentrating really carefully on the road. We don’t want to knock at any wild animals particularly those lovely kangaroos. Besides killing wild animals in Australia is a crime. Driving was pretty hard during sunset as the sun was shining head on at our direction.

Then we saw a sign. It says Port Campbell.

Opps!!!!!!!!
We knew we had made a mistake then.

All I can say is to be continued… will we find the Twelve Apostles? Hang on tight for the next post.

Time taken from junction of Great Ocean Road & Otway Lighthouse Road to Port Campbell National Park @ Victoria is 1 hour 11 minutes.

Fufu, I think we all wanna visit the whole world! Haha

Adino, maybe they have but we didn’t look carefully. We just drove along the road… not planning to detour anywhere in Lavers Hill since we were out of time. Oh yeah the clouds have been a great companion to us.
