My Victoria, Australia travelogue (so far):

Great Ocean Road Self-Drive Day 4: Car Rental, West Gate Freeway & Point Addis
At 10 minutes before noon we left Point Addis Lookout (spent about 20 minutes there). By then our stomach were grumbling for food.
The Great Ocean Road stretches 243 kilometers from Torquay to Warrnambool. It’s like driving from KL to Kuantan (259 kms) except The Great Ocean Road is winding and come with splendid ocean and forest views and along the way are towns like Anglesea, Lorne, Apollo Bay, Port Campbell, Warrnambool…
We reached Anglesea, a small coastal town 10 minutes later.

Notice the kangaroo picture? Anglesea’s golf course is the home of kangaroos. Unfortunately we do not have time to stop there.
Anglesea Shopping Village.
We had Whiting fish burgers for lunch. The shop is situated just beside Anglesea Bakery. It was really good though we had to wait quite a while for it to be cooked.
Many holiday makers stopped here for rest & relax.
1/2 hour later we got on the road again. It was my sis’ turn to drive.
We had the air-cond off most of the time while travelling this great road. Only the sea breeze baby! Plus we get to save fuel along the way. 🙂
Ahhh wonderful ocean view.
Can you spot something here? It’s the lighthouse! We’re going there.
But before that we stopped at Hutt Gully, another one of the many lookout/walk/scenic spot along Great Ocean Road.

Lovely flora located along the steps down towards Anglesea Beach.
We spent only 5 minutes there as there are so many attractions along the way. No time to lose.
Reached Split Point Lighthouse at Aireys Inlet 5 minutes later.
The walk to Split Point Lighthouse. We’re not allowed to drive along this road as it is a private road. Beautiful houses can be seen along this road.
Built in the late 19th century, Split Point Lighthouse is still operating today!
Unfortunately the lighthouse was close when we were there or we would have gone in and up to have a look.

Notice the clouds? They’re turning grayish.
Eagle Rock.
A lovely cottage quarter used by former keepers situated beside the lighthouse. It was auctioned off in 2004 with the price tag of AU$1.5 million. Gulps!!!
Not far from the cottage is Willow Tea House. No words besides CHARMING!!!

Time spent at Split Point Lighthouse: 20 minutes.
After the lighthouse, it’s my turn to drive.
Great Ocean Road leading to Memorial Arch. We did not stop as we were accelerating and there were cars behind us.

Lorne town… we’re coming!
It was 2pm when we reached Lorne.
Our rented car; Toyota Corolla Ascent. We parked here and went to answer nature call. Hehe

Time taken from Point Addis to Lorne @ Victoria is 2 hours 35 minutes.

Dawn, hehe you’ll be confuse for few weeks if you drive in Malaysia. My sis had the ‘confuse-driving in Malaysia’ syndrome after driving in US for few months.
Tekkaus, haha no lar. Using non-DSLR will get the same result too. Didn’t do anything extraordinary with the camera.

KR, hi there. It’s okay. Let’s share the info here.
From collecting the car to 12 Apostles and various stops along the way… it took us a total of 9 hours. Unbelievable right? The official Great Ocean Road website estimated the time from Melbourne to 12 Apostles to be 4 hours 15 mins. That is if you don’t stop. But that won’t be call Great Ocean Road adventure anymore.

I had wanted to make it a day trip but looking at your post, it would be a shame not to stop along the way. Where did you spend the night, and did you make reservations in advance?
KR, I spend the night at Port Campbell and yup I make reservation in advance.
If I would do the whole thing again, I will choose staying 2 nights in Great Ocean Road. So many places yet to explore. Haha
