Chester

Chester’s Boarding Ordeal

Some of you had asked me: Who took care of Chester while we were away on our recent HK-Macau trip? I’m going to answer you now.

My initial plan was to let grandma and maid take care of him but decided not to since we’ll be gone nearly a week.

My second plan was to find a good house boarding for him but unfortunately I couldn’t find any or because circumstances prevented it.

My third plan was to place him in a pet shop boarding. We found one near our place and on that faithful day, guess what we found out? The shop is closed down. In other word – bankrupt!!!

So we ended up dropping Chester at my uncle’s place as we’re already running late.

Since he have 2 dogs, it is quite unpleasant to keep a 3rd dog in the house. So he brought Chester to a vet shop boarding. I never like vet shop boarding because the dog will be caged most of the time but what to do ya.

My heart almost fell to the ground when I saw Chester after so many days. He looked thin. The vet told me he got this smelly stench. The first thing Chester did when I grabbed hold of his leash is he lunges straight to the car… without greeting me at all. It must be a nightmare staying there.

When I got home, I search and harass his body to look for any sign of mistreatment… mygod I can feel his buttock’s bone jutting out. The smelly stench that the vet told me about actually is his poo’s stench. There were a large piece of hardened poo stuck on his behind. Idiot man! The environment inside the boarding house must be really bad. They didn’t clean his poo ka! I also found a big patch of wound at his buttock. 🙁

He’s of course ok now. The power of love. Kekeke

My advice to any dog owners out there, never ever leave your dog in a vet shop boarding. Pet shop boarding isn’t my ideal choice either. But if you have to leave them there, always request a tour of the boarding area. If they don’t allow you in there, it means they’re hiding something. As a customer @ dog owner we have the right to check the boarding place. Would you in your sane mind place your dog in some pet shop where you have no idea how the sleeping condition will be like? There’s no such thing as P&C and don’t take whatever bullshit excuse they give. Just walk out of there. Better be safe than sorry.

Pity Chester.. hehe.. nevermind at least now Chester is with you..

Just to check with you. Dogs will feel shy or uncomfortable like human or not if we send them temporary to other people house ? Will he willing to go there ?

actually i would prefer boarding my pet at the vet, compared to boarding at a pet shop. at least vet can provide medical attention to the pet. i think chester was just unlucky to be landed with a horrible vet. i’m glad he’s okay now.

btw, i have seen owners boarding their pets at this very popular pet shop in kuching. and the pet shop owner allow her own friends to play with the pets! i was very mortified. i would so hate it if i knew that my pet was being subjected to mingling with strangers without my knowledge and permission.

unfortunate! that part of plan was not well executed. 🙁 what’s the difference between a house boarding n vet shop boarding? … very bad service that, couldn’t tell what’s wrong with the pet they’re looking after. shouldn’t there be a qualification cert or something to set up this boarding service?

The same happens to other pets. My cat once got this poor treatment too at the vet boarding place.

Keeyit, depends on the dog temperament. Some will feel uncomfortable and some will feel shy. For Chester, he’ll feel shy at first and I have to ‘drag’ him in but after awhile he’s back to his usual self.

Hedo, yeah guess he’s unlucky. I’ll be horrified if any pet shops allow its customer to mingle with pets under their care.

Wuching, I would if I could. Haha

Dreamcatcher, difference is pet will stay in a house instead of vet shop. No such thing as boarding qualification.

Hcfoo, yes this is the one.

MonkeyWong, yes most of them. That’s why we must look properly.

Jam, wah your cat too? Kesian.

    Neo, :crying: unfortunately!

Johnny Ong, yes a huge issue. One of my solutions is to have someone at home.
