Chester

My Dog Enjoys Bathing In The Bathroom Shower!

My dog, Chester is being hounded by ‘skin problem’ since early this year. But it got worst recently that I began to bath him twice a week with Malaseb. His skin at the brisket area became dark brown/black in color, some harden (at the armpit area) and look & feel like fish scale. I’m not sure what would have caused it and I’ve not bring him to vet (yeah me BAD!) . But I did see some improvement once I stop feeding him bread & cookies. The other day I start to give him some cookies again. How can I not? He was eyeing me with such pity look. And now I see that his brisket area began to redden again. Hmm I wonder why this is such a problem for him only now. I’ve been feeding him bread & cookies for so many years. Maybe it’s something else. Hmm Hmm…

Anyway what I want to say is because I’ve been giving him twice a week bath, I’ve been doing one of the bathing in the bathroom. And I only bath the lower portion of the body where the problem is. Talk about lazy. I call it the 50% bath.

And since I’ve been giving him frequent bathing in the bathroom, this place is becoming his favorite! I no longer have to DRAG & coax him into the bathroom. He walks in himself. Imagine me dragging him in by the neck and him screeching the floor using his nails! Yeah like that lo. The only thing that he’s refusing to do in the bathroom is PEE. There’s this once he peed in there and he slipped. Because of that he remembers not to pee in there anymore. Haha

And anyway again this is not what I want to say. Bathing Chester outside in the front pouch is a very big task. He’ll walk here and there during the scrubbing & rinsing. I have to stop him from walking away and yell at the same time to prevent him from licking the shampoo. What more? He will flap his body (we call it shake your bon bon) and shower me with his body liquid. Arggh! Because he’s very still (like a cold puppy hehe) in the bathroom, I decide to give him a proper bath with the shower pouring from high above. All this while I handled the shower head at his height.

Guess what? He loves it!

Here’s him a day later chilling out with his hind legs wide open (fav pose). Kekeke

If you look carefully, you can see the darken parts around his brisket and private area.

p/s: yeah I know I should bring him to vet by now. *me looking at you with puppy eyes*

I have always wanted to have a pet dog…but my family don’t allow me to have one.

Fufu, yup not easy. Having a pet is like committing to a long term relationship. Haha you must be responsible. You’re afraid of dogs?

Keeyit, nah I think it’s the same with all dogs. Just so happen my dog has some sort of skin allergic.

Alexallied, yup this is old house. Maybe 4 decades old. He’s very nice to touch. πŸ˜€

    Bengbeng, I will.

Tekkaus, why your family don’t allow?

You know what I use to bath my dog? Amway’s LOC… and honestly it’s good… no gatal2, smell, cleaner fur, etc… I actually read about it from forums and it works because the pH is suitable for skin (human skin, dog skin, etc)…

Hi, Dom Dom has the same problem.
Her private part and ‘armpit’ area is exactly like Chester. I have been bathing her with Malaseb for months now but it doesn’t really ‘fix’ the problem.
I am now using some sort of a antifungal powder. Will try for a couple of days if still not working then need to send her to a vet. The vet will most likely prescribe some antibiodic and some cream to apply…

Hcfoo, I was going to say human shampoo not good for dogs. Hahaha Wow really? So now your dog is still using this shampoo?

Dom Dom, for awhile after I changed his food, his private part area became a lot better. Now it’s back to no good. I think humidity & temperature in Malaysia plays a big part too. Fungal love sweat. I’ll bring him to vet this weekend. Hopefully la.. aiyo. Do update about Dom Dom’s condition ya. Btw how come no more blogging?

Ranger has that dark, purplish color skin too. The vet said it’s due to his allergies – environmental and seasonal. Can’t do much for it especially he is allergic to everything except cotton. But when it comes to very cold season, the dark colored skin gets lighter.

iWalk, he’s enjoying the cool breeze from the fan. Haha. I still can’t figure out why some dogs just hate water.
