Chester Became Poop Machine After Eating Addiction Dog Food

The title says it all. Chester has become a poop machine!…. to the point that got me worry. He now poops at least 5-6 times per day after eating Addiction Le Lamb (grain free) dog food compared to twice per day (his regular schedule). Chester has never poop so frequently in his life until now!!!

Go out at the car porch, poop once. Go take a walk, come back, poop twice. Go for a walk again, come back, poop thrice. Hahaha

Let’s hear my story…
After Chester finished Fish4Dogs, I switched him back to the replacement bags of Canine Caviar. The smell of Canine Caviar kibbles still put me off. So I decided to introduce a new dog food for him. I crossed out Fish4Dogs because it’s so expensive and also because I see no different on his well-being except his poop size got bigger.

I decided to let Chester try grain free dog food for a change and was introduced to Addiction by the regular pet shop I frequent. I’ve come to realized that senior dog need less protein in their daily intake is wrong. They still need ‘good’ high protein food (according to some articles I read online), so I’ve started to embrace higher protein dog food for Chester and that’s why I choose Addiction.

The food transition from Canine Caviar to Addiction went smoothly except that yes he poops more often now. The most worrying point is Chester lose quite a lot of weight… like about 2kg+. He’s already 28kg+ and now he’s 26kg+ when we checked at the vet. He looks thin. And everyone I met on the street told me Chester has lost weight. Another thing is very often his stools are sandy/grainy. Sigh so I’ve got 3 things to worry about… why he poops more, why he lose weight and why his poops are grainy.

He doesn’t look thin here. Camera adds pounds!

Here are my guesses:
1. Frequent stools – might be due to flax seed in his Addiction dog food that make him go more frequently (due to too much fiber in flax seed). This I read from a dog forum. Not sure how true it is.

2. Weight loss – grain free means no carbs… means lose weight? I’ve since then increased his dog food intake from 2 cups per day to 5 cups per day. At least he packs some pounds now.

3. Sandy/grainy stools – dehydrated. That’s the only explanation. But I checked his skin condition and he’s not dehydrated. Maybe one/some of the ingredients in his food doesn’t work for him.

Good thing I see from Addiction? Chester is livelier and active (like when he’s on Canine Caviar). Tsk stool from Addiction still smell.

I’m not going to let Chester continue Addiction Le Lamb after he finish the packet. I’ve already bought a new dog food for him (also grain free) call Taste of the Wild. I’ve heard so much rave review about it and can’t wait to see good changes come to Chester. Wait for my review then.

Sometimes, it doesn’t sound too bad if you poop more than once a day, at least that is the case for a human being.

Hi Jam, long time no see.
Yeah true for human case. Problem is I don’t know if this hold true for our canine friends as well.

Oh Chester lost weight? Strange. Maybe the food not so suitable for him?

Probably the flax seeds and the additional fruits and veggies that’s making him poop so many times.

Btw have you seen this Bud commercial? I love it πŸ™‚ http://youtu.be/uQB7QRyF4p4

This dog food is real scary. I’m more concerned about the grainy poop. But then it’s okay now because Chester is on Taste of the Wild.

Just seen the commercial. So very cute!!! Thanks for sharing. πŸ™‚
