Limiting Our House’s WiFi

Update 31st Dec 2020: My WiFi router is now set to switch off at 12am until 5.30am. Woot! We now sleep before 12am or just a little over 12am.

Update 4th Mar 2022: Our WiFi router is now off between 12am and 6.30am. It’s been going on for some time.

Update 7th Aug 2022: Since upgrading our WiFi from Streamyx to Unifi back in May, we still maintain our WiFi off schedule that is between 12am and 6.30am.

In my previous post, I talked about how I ditched my handphone’s alarm for a real alarm clock as a step to reduce my contact with EMF radiation. As the title of this post says it all, I will be sharing with you how I limit my house’s WiFi with only a small verbal protest from the family.

Our old routine involved operating the WiFi from morning until the wee hours. It bothered me that we expose ourself to the waves for over 18 hours a day. Thankfully, our WiFi router is usually switched off before going to sleep. Many of my neighbors have their routers churning for 24 hours non-stop.

What changed about a year ago? Well, thanks to the influence of The Weston A. Price Foundation (WAPF) and Hilda Labrada Gore, I finally acted upon this situation that’s been bothering me for a long time. I told my family that I’m doing this to reduce our EMF radiation; for our health and for better sleep. I scheduled the router to turn off the WiFi signal automatically from 12.30am to 5.30am. Yes, it’s only for a very short period but I know it made a difference. I grew up with this saying “sedikit-sedikit lama-lama jadi bukit”. No matter what we do, good or bad, it will accumulate.

My dad is, I don’t know, an internet addict? He would use the WiFi until 2am, 3am and sometimes 4am. In order to encourage him to sleep when it’s time to sleep so that his body can repair and heal and of course to reduce our contact with EMF, I did what’s best. During the early stages of limiting our house’s WiFi, I could hear my dad switching back on the WiFi in the wee hours of the morning. Not sure how he did it, but he sure did. Very quickly, I found the secret. :D:D:D Thankfully, not long after he stopped doing that and all’s good now. Yay! Of course, sometimes we will have an emergency that we need to use the WiFi. No problem, just switch the router back off after use.

You must be wondering why do I pay so much attention to EMF radiation. I learned that we are an electric being (what a big secret this was!). And being electric, what do you think will happen when you’re constantly bathing in EMF radiation? Disturbance! If you want to learn more about the history of electrification, please have a go at The Invisible Rainbow: A History of Electricity and Life. This book blew my mind!

Recently, I asked my sister whether I can start shutting down the WiFi at 12am and she said “NOOOOOOOOOO”. Hahaha My plan is to turn off the WiFi at 10.30pm. Hehehe One day!

Honestly I believe it makes no difference right now as your neighbours surrounding you will still have their Wifi…so your effort might be futile.

Hi Tekkaus, from what I read, the ones that are closest to us will affect us. And you’r right we are surrounded by neighbors using WiFi and what else, right? However, when it comes to bodily senses, my body could feel it subconsciously and consciously. Subconsciously as in I would stir up for no reason at night, only to find the Wifi/mobile data in my house is on. Consciously, when I started switching off my handphone at night, my body feel at peace and well rested. I realized I shut off the ‘electric hums’.

We are so used to modern electrification that our body feel it is normal. Try switch off the handphones, WiFi and other gadgets at night. You would feel a difference, if not you, maybe your kids because children are more sensitive. πŸ˜‰
