Missy Nurse, WAKE UP!!!

Few days back I went to the clinic for stomach discomfort. It was quite a funny and yet irritating moment at the dispensary. I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry at the end.

Here’s a re-constructed conversation between me and the nurse when she was handing me my medication:

“Gas… 1 day twice, for digestion… 1 day twice, fever medicine take if necessary, diarrhea… take if necessary…”

“Umhh I don’t have fever and diarrhea. Why do I need them?” I asked.

“That’s what the doctor wrote. Take it when necessary.” said nurse.

“But I’m not having fever or diarrhea NOW wor. Can you please ask the doctor why he gave me those?” said agitated me.

Few minutes later…

“Miss, here’s your medicine.” said nurse.

“What did the doctor say?” I asked.

“Ohh I gave you the wrong one. That was for past checkup.” said the nurse calmly.

“HUH? Hmm ok.” said irritated-but-try-to-act-cool me.

I thought I wanna smack my head at the clinic’s wall right there and then. Ohmygod, that’s so wrong!!!

When I got home, I hesitated awhile before swallowing my medication.

“Mom, what if the nurse gave me the wrong medicine?”

“Eat only la.” said mom.

Hahahaha πŸ˜€

Cannot ban for life. I always go there. The nurses are always changing. I guess they’re part time.

Yeah. We put our trust in the nurse for preparing our medicine, she shouldn’t have messed up. I’ll be ‘jaga-jaga’ next time.

good thing you were paying attention! I still prefer the m’sian way of dispensng meds. over here the doc will write up a prescription and the patient has to go get the meds from the hospital pharmacy or other pharmacies, eg, Walmart, Walgreens, Target, etc. Very mar fan, especially when you are dead sick.

OMG that’s so scary! Imagine eating the wrong medicine and having bad side effects.

    • Reply Che-Cheh May 23, 2011 at 11:51 pm

I still have doubts every time I take the pills because one of the medicine is new to me. The rest I can recognize. Eeekkk!

most of the time they just give u panadols regardless u have fever or not. LOL (to make more $ i guess). And since I visit doc with company’s medical card, I hardly ask: why this why that πŸ˜›

When they gave me the fever and diarrhea medication, I initially thought they wanted to make extra $$. Haha But who knows it’s even worst… read wrong also can.
