천명: 조선판 도망자 이야기 Mandate of Heaven: The Fugitive of Joseon (Korean Drama)

Fugitive Of Joseon aka Heaven Mandate

I’ve been looking forward to this sageuk drama since the news came out… mainly for 3 reasons. One, because it starred Lee Dong Wook. I quite like his two previous work (Wild Romance and Scent of a Woman), two because Song Ji Hyo my favorite gal aka the ACE from Running Man is in it and three because I’m curious (궁금 해요) how are they going to make a fugitive last for 20 episodes! Won’t he ever get caught?

Joseon was a Kingdom in Korea circa 1392 to 1897. So I bet you know what the title means now. Lee Dong Wook is playing a dad here. Now how awesome is that? I can never imagine that… a dad? *chuckles He’s pretty good at it actually and his drama daughter is super cute and talented as well. Basically I’m happy with everyone’s acting except Song Ji Hyo. Yes my favorite Song Ji Hyo. Why oh why?? Her facial expressions and traditional Korean speech just doesn’t add up with her beauty. I had to winced every time she’s in the frame. Too bad. 🙁 On another note, I think I might have seen her in Princess Hours but I don’t remember her.

Fugitive Of Joseon aka Heaven Mandate
Heart-breaking moment.

I love the bandit family as well. Oh and worth mentioning is Seo Dong Hyun as Prince Kyungwon (Crown Prince Lee Ho’s kid brother). He’s cute and there are some scenes where I feel like giving him standing ovation. You have great future kiddo.

All in all, I find the start and mid of this drama really fascinating. The last 6 episodes… well they’re like a bit messy… and dilly dally which got me shouting “Already, please??” Even the actors look as if they’ve taking it easy.

Well, tonight is the last epi. I hope it doesn’t disappoint.

My only favorite song from this drama is 뜨거운 안녕 (Passionate Goodbye) by Moon Myung Jin.
