Yes! Finally I’ve watched My Name Is Kim Sam Soon. This drama was made in 2005 and that’s like 7 years ago. Searching for this drama online was a big task and then finding time to watch is another big hurdle because I’ve so many Korean dramas lining up (hehehe). Still, find.time.I.must since I’m a big fan of Kim Sun Ah after watching Scent Of A Woman. This drama was recommended to me by my sis when we were discussing a movie starring Jeong Ryeo Won and Uhm Tae Woong (Never Ending Story; which I’ve watched it on my flight to Europe). My sis herself has watched this drama twice. She told me I’ve watched it before way way back but I’ve no recollection of it at all! Anyway…
Dimples man Hyun Bin or swoon-worthy Daniel Henney?
Unlike many K.dramas that goes by this story: helpless leading lady waiting for her knight in shining armor to save her, My Name Is Kim Sam Soon will offer you a very different kind of leading lady, one that kick-a$$. Oh yeah! Another notable K.drama with kick-a$$ and strong-will leading lady (which is my ultimate FAV K.drama) is Faith. Do check both out.

Kim Sam Soon (Kim Sun Ah) is a baker who has a talent in making pastries and cakes. On Christmas Eve, she caught her boyfriend, Min Hyun Woo (Lee Kyu Han), cheating on her and breaks up on the same night. On that same night, she accidentally went into the men’s restroom and met Hyun Jin Hun (Hyun Bin), a somewhat callous fellow but sometimes considerate guy. By sheer coincidence, Jin Hun needs a baker for his restaurant Bon Appetit and Sam Soon is unemployed. Sam Soon is hired as the restaurant’s chief baker and the two fights like cat and dog. Nevertheless, they started to have feeling for each other and Sam Soon agreed to post as Jin Hun’s girlfriend so his mother would leave him alone. Things got complicated when Jin Hun’s ex-girlfriend Yoo Hee Jin came back from the States intending to win him back.

Love the bickering between Sam Soon and Sam Shik. Especially when Sam Shik has no idea he has fallen for Sam Soon! Why he misses her? Why he act this way? Ahh LOVE!
I highly recommended My Name Is Kim Sam Soon to anyone who’s starting out on Korean drama and to those who want something light and heartfelt to warm your heart. Get ready to laugh out loud as well. It’s a feel good drama that you can watch many times repeatedly and still find it fresh.
I personally love all the episodes except the finale. I thought it could’ve been better written. Still the ratings for this drama astounded me.
Since I’ve watched a Hyun Bin drama, I finally know what his charms are… dimples and soothing voice. Something he share strikingly with my Lee Min Ho. 😛 Hehehe I’m going to take a peak at Secret Garden to get to know more about Hyun Bin when I have the time.
