난폭한 로맨스 Wild Romance (Korean Drama)

What a fun and wonderful time I had watching Wild Romance. With no expectation whatsoever, Wild Romance brought more than an appetizer to the table. The earlier part of the drama gave lots of funny and witty acting and jokes, got a lil’ serious in the mid (including unrequited love) and an ending that everyone wished for.

Lee Si Young and Lee Dong Wook are the 2 main lead portraying the meaning of Wild Romance. I was never a fan of Lee Si Young (didn’t like both her characters in Boys Over Flowers and Poseidon) however my views of her are different now with this drama. As for Lee Dong Wook, I’ve heard his name a lot of times in the online world but has never watched any of his drama. And just like that after a few epis, I’m hooked on him. Haha

Korean title: 난폭한 로맨스
Korean romanization title: Nanpokhan Romance
International English title: Wild Romance
Chinese Title: 暴力罗曼史 / 狂野罗曼史
Running period in Korea: 4th January 2012 to 23rd February 2012
Running period in KBS World: 21st January 2012 to 15th March 2012
Total episodes: 16
Genre: Romance, comedy

The bickering is just so funny!

Synopsis (source from KBS):
Everything starts on the birthday of Eunjae’s dad. Drunken Eunjae runs into Park Muyeol, who is the 2nd baseman of ‘Red Dreamers’. Eunjae who is a fan of ‘Blue Seagulls’, starts a fight with Muyeol who led the ‘Red Dreamers’ to victory. The next day, internet is on fire with the video called ‘Humiliated Park Muyeol’. Because of this video, career of both Muyeol and Eunjae, who recently got a job as a bodyguard, are in danger. In the end, they decide to put on a show against the public! They lie that Eunjae is Muyeol’s private bodyguard and the video was recorded when she was giving a self-defence demonstration to Muyeol. Like this, Eunjae becomes real bodyguard of Muyeol. It seemed like everything worked out just fine, but the problem is that they can’t stand each other’s existence…

This is one of the funniest part of the drama. LOL

Cast:
Lee Dong Wook as Park Moo Yeol
Lee Si Young as Yoo Eun Jae

Oh Man Seok as Jin Dong Soo
Hwang Sun Hee as Oh Soo Young
Kang Dong Ho as Kim Tae Han
Lim Ju Eun as Kim Dong Ah
Lee Won Jong as Yoo Young Gil (Eun Jae’s dad)
Jang Tae Hoon as Yoo Chang Ho (Eun Jae’s bro)
Jessica as Kang Jong Hee
Lee Bo Hee as Yang Sun Hee
Lee Hee Joon as Ko Jae Hyo
Lee Han Wi as Kevin Jang
Hong Jong Hyeon as Seo Yoon Yi

Lee Si Young and Lee Dong Wook chemistry as funny, cute and bickering relationship = works

Lee Si Young and Lee Dong Wook chemistry as real couple = doesn’t really work (in my opinion unfortunately). They’re the cute-caring couple type.

Though the rating is so low, it doesn’t mean that this drama sucks. As for Jessica (from SNSD) brought in to improve the rating… well I would prefer a different actress to play Jong Hee. I like every parts of this drama except I didn’t really dig the last episode. I thought they would show more of the 2 leads relationship but it was just some brief moment. Oh well, this is a comedy what to expect ya. Still it’s a feel good drama with some mystery in it. Do watch!

I love all the song for this drama especially Filament and painful.

Just curious if you are expert in Korean language already, after watching so many Korean dramas hehe.

I just started listening to a “Learn Korean” podcast. It’s a very interesting language and not too difficult to learn.

But when I see those Korean shows, they speak so fast I can’t understand anything.

Not an expert but I can understand a few sentences. But some like you said… they speak too fast so all I hear is ‘rojak’! Some words are very catchy therefore I can remember faster.

My friend is watching this and asked me to join her, but….not my genre! 🙂 My sister and mom are able to understand some Korean sentences too and of course the food they make! 🙂 I must be the only odd one! LOL

Not my sis and mom genre too. Haha
      Have you tried Korean food?

I only like the noodles, BBQ stuff and anything that’s spicy. Some of the side dishes are hard to swallow.

      Eh good already what. 😛
Hard to swallow side dishes are like what? Kimchi?

Korea, my impression is KIMCHI >>> My favourite!!! and face mask >>> My favourite too!!!

I always go for TVB drama. I used to watch Korean drama few years ago. Due to no more source from friends. So, I stop it…

I’ve never use Korean face mask before.

Yo no need wait sourcing from friends ma. Online banyak sources. I quit TVB because my fav actors/actresses no longer acting. Also coz I see most of the dramas are starred by the same ‘now famous’ actors/actresses. Boring lo.
