I like TGIF but I stop patronizing them 1 or 2 years ago because I got bored of their food. Something like eat until wanna puke. Hehe
Last weekend, my dad suggested TGIF and we all agreed since it’s been quite awhile. We always go to the one at Subang Parade. It’s been good to us. Many memories were etched there.
We saw this 2 course meal deals banner outside their restaurant whereby you choose an appetizer & entree for RM29.90. We decided to go for that.
Our drinks; Lemonade, Watermelon & Mango
Our appetizers:
Fried mac & cheese.
I’ve been looking forward to taste this dish since I read it at Sloppy Chic’s food blog. Unfortunately it’s a disappointment for me. Even my parents do not like it. It’s dry, non-crispy & no oozing of cheese when you bite into it. Let me wonder what’s so special about it after all.
Boneless wings.
Another one that I’ve been dying to try. But opps another disappointment. It’s tender alright. However some portions are on the salty side whereas some are more on heavily spiced side. Guess the marinade were not done properly. But I eat it anyway because I love chicken breast.
Our entrees:
Sizzling chicken & cheese.
Hmm another no good one. How many must be endured? The chicken is on the ‘hard’ side. We have to eat it slowly in order to swallow it. LOL The sliced onions & capsicums tasted good though. Mashed potatoes is too little! (or maybe my dad ‘sapu’ already while I’m not looking) Haha.
Fish & chips.
I gotta said this is the best dish we ordered. Don’t like the chips but the fish is really good.
We end our meals with Dessert Minis; mocha & strawberry parfait. RM6 for 2. I didn’t take any photos because I couldn’t wait to get out of the restaurant!
You know why? We have to asked twice each for our dessert & additional order of mango drink. And the ladies’ loo is a mess. Real mess. Rubbish (as in tissues) are everywhere. Bin was full and the tissue are mounting as high as Everest. Plus we were short changed. Not much but still… hai!
TGIF is known for their heart-warming services. But I don’t sense it that day. There were no happy greetings & ‘smile’ serving.
p/s: Have you had this situation before: Parents are so hungry. And there you are, taking pictures of the food. Eventually I let them dig into it. Bad pictures pun bad pictures la.

Oh yes, gone are the days where TGIF was the all time “family restaurant”, where waiters and waitresses were warm and super duperly enthusiastic. I too have stopped patronizing at TGIF since their quality of food and services diluted.
Giving them a second chance for reheating pre-cooked food in compliment with lousy service for that whopping amount of Money? Neh! My money and time is better worth spent else where!=D
i  tgif’s mocha mud…very da yummy…
so far, didnt have any bad ordeal there la…
and everytime when i wanna snap at food hor, my frenz very da uncooperative one lor, so i gotta snap swiftly or else their hands and chopsticks will end up in my pics…gek sei π
I am hoping that they will open a branch in Malacca.
On my mom’s birthday, i made everyone to wait while i take pic. my dad even dig out the prawn for me to snap a better view! π
Went there last Friday and I recalled the reasons why I never like TGIF. However, the TGIF in Taiwan left me great memories.
I never really enjoyed myself at TGIF before. So now I hardly go! I prefer to go Chili’s instead.
I don’t take photos of the food when I’m terribly hungry! Eat first then only take photos. Or just don’t bother! Haha!
OMG!!! Portions shrunk by soooo much????!!!!
Ok, I’m sticking to Chilli’s if I want franchise steaks.. π I can’t wait for Monte’s to open again in BSC.
Genez, yeah the fried mac & cheese tasted like reheating one. Ewww that bad huh… hai hai
Annant, haha that’s because your friends are not bloggers right? Convert them la!
Miche, hehe I guess we blogger kena muka tebal when snapping pictures ya. Your dad is cool! π
Jason, how come you never mentioned about the bad food quality in your blog? If I know I can stop my dad. Hehehe
Foongpc, my first experience with Chili’s was real bad. That’s why I never go again. Being the first customer and served reheated food! Urgghh But I will give it a go again someday. Not now.
Angie Tan, ya portions also kecil already.
Yup, seems like the services are not so good in the Subang Parade branch.
The one in Plaza Damas was great though. π
eh? so saddening. the oozing mac n cheese i had was in one-u >> http://sloppychic.com/not-a-friday-but-tgif/. crispy on the skin and hot in the filling! usually the fries are fat and crispy ( i always go one-u or curve). hmmm is it just the one in subang parade? or all their standards have decreased? hmmmpppphhhh..
Marvin, ohh thankfully not all like that. :whew:
Xin, not in Subang one unfortunately. Maybe Subang one only la and dunno where else. Wonder where Jason ate that day.
I thought all the TGIF same with standard food?
The food is not standard in the sense a lot depends on the management of a particular outlet and the availability of skilled cooks
Now you sound real pissed off! I also hate eating lousy food, but to me it is the service that really matters. If the service is poor, no matter how good is the food I also won’t bother going again.
Keeyit, no la. Have to take account of the management in each branches, cooks, etc…
Bengbeng, eh just what I said. Didn’t read your comment prior answering to Keeyit.
Jam, I was pissed at the restaurant. Not after that. Haha Oh yeah even if the food is good but service lousy, I won’t go again. And vice versa.
great insight, will look forward to avoiding that during my next trip to KL. Mind to meet up? :dog:
The presentation of the foods are not really nice. Too bad to go into a restaurant like that.
It was such a long time since I last patroned them… when you wanna belanja me at TGIF? There is a new one in IOI mall, new wing. :skull:
Alexallied, but not all bad according to some of the comments.
CK, I thought food presentation is ok. Not great but okay.
Neo, why must belanja you?
The last time I went was because I won a free voucher from Nuffnang. Their service and food are nothing to shout about. Anyway I’m not really into western food so I won’t go unless a friend decided to go there.
Hcfoo, ya I remembered you winning that free voucher. That time also no good liao..wah.
