Meet My First PC

In my whole life, I’ve owned co-owned two desktop PCs together with my dad and sis. Oklah actually dad paid for the PCs and we’re his two ungrateful grateful daughters.

Our 1st PC…
1. is AcerMate 800
2. runs on Windows 95
3. runs on Pentium processor 75MHz, 1GB HDD (hahaha siao ar!)
4. bought in 1995
5. had undergone a few reformatting
6. had undergone countless ‘hang’ problem
7. had undergone countless piracy installation *cough*
8. had undergone countless gaming abuses
9. most important of all it’s still working

Yes it’s true. This PC is still working albeit its processing is too slow to our liking.

I had my first taste of internet and experienced MIRC and IQC with this PC. Can you believe that actually it was my dad who introduce us to MIRC?

May I present you our 12 years old desktop PC, Miss AcerMate 800 (please clap la… respect a bit ma)

You must be wondering why we still keep Miss AcerMate 800?

Dad: Throw away? No way! Do you know how much I paid for this PC?

Me: Ya I know. But then it’s very slow liao and I think nobody would want it anymore.

Dad: No matter what don’t throw away ar or I’ll smack you!

Me: 😢

So what’s your first PC tale’s like? Come share with me.

    Hehe.. Interesting.. 😀

Hmm.. for me, I bought my first PC during my 2nd year Uni. The PC was running on Windows 98, 128RAM, AMD. Then I upgraded it during my final year for my thesis to Windows 2000 Server, 512RAM.

Then I passed this PC to my brother and he used that for playing computer games. Then I was using company PC and laptop to online for 5 years.

This year during the PIKOM PC fair, I bought a dell laptop with a good deal RM2599. Inspiron 1420 dell notebook, 2GB RAM, 120GB HD, Vista. 😀

My first PC burned itself. Committed hari-kiri when I just mentioned the word “upgrade”. No photo-liao.

My first laptop died because of starvation – battery died. No juice, no power, no work. Hehehe… :hehe:

I wrote my first BASIC program when I was 5 years old =P … and I was quite a good Turtle programmer too … all without having ever owned a PC until I was around 19, when I forced my parents to get me a PC while I was in college.

Nowadays, I just use whatever my company provides me, in this case, a Compaq nc4200 laptop with 2GB RAM, 80GB HDD, Intel Centrino, XP.

My first PC has no brand. In Cantonese, it’s called ‘chap mug’. And it’s a Pentium 1. Quite reliable and I has been using it for 5 years.
