It’s been nearly 2 years since I started using cloth pad. What can I say? I still love it! The only time I wore sanitary pads was early this year during my HK trip. ‘Auntie’ came at an unpredictable time. It reminds me why I dislike sanitary pads so much.
I’ve only made two online cloth pads purchases so far; one from New Moon Pads and the latest purchase (6 months ago) from Domino Pads. This is not a sponsored post but rather a post to share my views on certain cloth pads.
The ‘weird’ hand dyed cloth pads from Domino Pads.
Was a little hesitant to wear it at first due to its freaky colors.
Bottom side of cloth pad. It’s a clip-on pad.
I personally prefer clip-on because there are few times I forgot I was wearing a wingless pad (from New Moon). So yes, the pad came off and landed on the wet floor. Argggh!
I bought the ‘heavy regular’ size. See the thickness? It’s longish too.
The top layer is made from organic bamboo velour.
While New Moon Pads gives me ‘quite’ frequent side leak during heavy flow, Domino Pads fair better in this department. BUT it still leaks on the side. I guess this is the weakness of the typical shape pads (including sanitary pads) due to its construction. There is no padding at the side (the wing area).
Updates: The hand dyed colors have come off after several wash particularly at the middle area (area that was stained with blood).
Btw, my mom still wouldn’t let me use her washing machine for the cloth pads. I’ve been hand washing my cloth pads all this time. The most important thing to remember is to soak/rinse/wash cloth pads in cold water. Cold water prevents stains from setting.
Here’s how I hand-wash cloth pads:
1. Place cloth pad in a pail and fill with cold water.
2. Use hand to rinse to get rid ‘most’ of the stains. I find using a powerful cold shower spray will help too.
3. Re-fill pail with just enough cold water to cover the pad.
4. Add mild detergent on ‘stubborn’ stains. Soak for 5 minutes or more.
5. Rinse with hand to get rid of remaining stains.
6. Re-rinse with clean water and hang to dry.
Note: Normally stubborn stains are the ‘dried’ type.
So yes, I’m still searching for the perfect cloth pads. I want a leak-proof cloth pad!!!
Do you use cloth pads?

p/s: I’m still trying to convert my sis. Grrrr…

Till you find the best cloth pad which does not leak, I will try to convert my wife π Do let me know.
Hey good luck yo! Yeah sure will if I find the best one.
Oh yes! I remember your previous post on this topic! So still wearing them? Not bad eh? : )
Really good lo. π
I am still on cloth pad, it’s been 4 years I think…thanks, Jam! π
I have the same problem with New Moon’s unless I change them very frequently like 2 hours! However I only use New Moon’s on lighter days. For heavier days I’m using pads from amazpadz. I did a custom order as to what colors, sizes and fabric I want. I totally love how these pad were made. Even if the pad is heavy and in need of a change but not time yet, it will not leak out to my panty. The bottom water resistant fleece works wonders.
4 years already? Wohoo!
I checked out amazpadz like you told me before. Didn’t see any instock pads though. I’m gonna make amazpadz my 3rd purchase. Not so soon though as my stock is still new and ‘abundance’. Haha
i had to wear a version of cloth pads too for about a month after my operation. now i am well enuf i use only surgical stuff π
Glad to know you’re getting better.
Btw your operation what is it about ya? I’m still clueless.
I actually am trying to use cloth pads also, but still thinking about it. Because it can be inconvenient at times, especially when you go out and have to change. π
My friend is trying to recommend me mooncups. But it’s too scary :\
Hi Fatin, Scary for me at first too. Haha But tried I did and I’ve never looked back.
Buy 1 or 2 good quality cloth pads to try out. Carry a zip lock bag when you’re out and about. Keep used cloth pads in this bag. Very easy.
Once you try cloth pads you won’t use sanitary pads anymore because it’s so comfy.
Haha okay will try in the future!!
Just one question. Is there any sites to buy in Malaysia? The New Moon and Domino pads are both international, right? Their shipping fees seem a little bit pricey… π
You can check TinyTapir.
have never tried cloth pad even though i read so much about them. have tried cloth sanitary pad though π feels really comfy. but…i have forgotten about it for quite a while and i don’t know where is it already
Yo yo cloth pad and cloth sanitary pad is the same thing right? π
So you’ve tried it ya. Why not continue using cloth pad?
i still cannot bring myself to try them out. still feel too geli la! lol at the mo, no need to worry abt it just yet coz it hasn’t come back but when it does, i dunno ler…..VERY VERY iffy.
Is cloth pads famous in Australia?
Since you’ve dealt with babies poos… this is nothing. Really. π
New Moon Ultra …designed specifically for women who tend to side leak. They also come in a winged option. :o)
Hi Renee, I prefer pad with wings intact. Hopefully you have this type of design in the future. π
Check out hyenacart and etsy
