Funfair: Happy Fun Park @ Bukit Tinggi, Klang

When was the last time you visited a funfair?

For me, it was more than a decade ago. The last one I went was held opposite Subang Parade at the used car area (once upon a time if I’m not mistaken).

However two weeks ago while I was having dinner at Bukit Tinggi, we saw a funfair held in the compound of Giant Hypermarket. What else? We had a go at it. No rides for me as I was REALLY full that night. I had a go at the games area though but all I win was a mini pink cow toy (come with suction to hang in the car).

Lights Wonderland @ I-City, Shah Alam

Imagine my bewilderment when I saw a sea of beautiful lights shining from a small hill just behind Sungai Rasau Toll Plaza along Federal Highway. It was a very pretty sight! I knew immediately that must be I-City for I’ve read 2 articles about I-City’s White Winter Wonderland recently at The Star newspaper. In short I-City is the latest MSC Malaysia Cybercentre Zone @ Shah Alam, Selangor.

Good news is I have my DSLR with me that night. Wehheeee but boy oh boy I had some tough time setting up most of the shots as I’m not sure how to set the best aperture and white balance. Plus using a 50mm f/1.8 lens for landscape shots is a real test. In the end I just ignore the white balance setting (set to auto) and only concentrate on aperture. And I choose not to use flash as I dislike overblown picture.

So bear with me… these are my first night photography shots of LED Christmas trees.

Tsk, I also did day shooting at I-City few months later which I think is really interesting and rare. Not many will visit I-City during the day. So click here to view some of my favorite shots taken at I-City in daylight. Hope you like it.

Hmm too dark and not pretty. Haha
But I gotta show you how they look from far, right?

Backstage @ Chinese Opera In Kuan Yin Temple, Klang

Ever since I was a toddler, I dream that someday I will be able to step into the backstage of a Chinese Opera.

Guess what?

My dream was fulfilled on the eve night of Kuan Yin’s birthday. I still can’t believe I ACTUALLY climbed the narrow rusty ladder into a world filled with culture richness & ‘exotic-ness’. Today when I ask myself did I really visit the Chinese Opera backstage? it is still hard to believe. Have to punch pinch myself many times. Haha

This is my 5 minutes dream journey… enjoy

I was happily clicking away with my camera at the Chinese Opera performance in Kuan Yin Temple, Klang when I saw an opening at the side of the stage. I decided to go near it and was contented that I’m able to shoot some backstage happenings from where I stood. Like this…

A beautiful opera lady busy making up. She didn’t even look at me.

Chinese Opera @ Kuan Yin Temple, Klang

I visited the famous Kuan Yin Temple in Klang on Wesak Day 3 months ago. Guess what? Last Saturday, I visit Kuan Yin Teng again but this time it was night time. As Kuan Yin’s birthday is on Sunday, we decided to go have a ‘look-look’ the night before because we saw quite a handful of people there plus a large tent has been erected for (I guess) opera!

I’ve been to this Kuan Yin Temple to watch Chinese Opera when I was small. But then I really can’t remember anything at all. So when we arrived there and saw that a Chinese Opera show were about to start, I was damn excited. It’s been my dream to watch Chinese Opera in Malaysia. I’ve seen them in Beijing but it’s a different feeling when you can watch it from your own backyard.

Without further ado, let me show you some of the shots I took.

At night in the temple compound.
