A Short Penang Trip & Nasi Kandar

I made a really really short trip to Penang today. How short? Hmm I think I spent about 2 hours there. Yup that short.

I’ve not been to Penang for more than 7-8 years (if not mistaken la ya; lazy to go through my old analogue Penang photos to find out exactly when).

So many things have changed in Penang! In what way? I don’t know but I sensed it. Kekeke

I love old pre-war buildings.

And the majestic Penang Bridge… ohh how can anyone refuse its beauty. They’re all taken from the car’s window from outrageous funny? angles.

Penangites, some of you cross the Penang Bridge almost everyday. Are you still in awe of its beauty after so many years looking at it?

I learnt a new word today. Ottu Kedai. It’s a mini sundry shop. Wonder what Ottu means.

And finally Nasi Kandar. No trip to Penang can be considered complete without eating Penang Nasi Kandar (and also Penang char kueh tiaw, Penang cendol, asam laksa… and many many more). But because I didn’t try any nasi kandar from my last visit there, the word nasi kandar is stucked hard in my mind for a very very very long time. So this time must try lo.

This is the femes one called Line Clear Nasi Kandar recommended by some of you & friends from Penang & Klang Valley. It’s very easy to find. Just find the old Odeon theater located at the junction of Jalan Penang & Lebuh Chulia. The stall is just opposite the theater.

I’m not sure how I’m going to describe this picture. Heavenly? Lip smacking good? More like I’m ‘lau nuah-ing’

Our verdict for this stall is hmm… so-so nia. Maybe because we didn’t try that many varieties of curry available there. My kurma chicken so-so. Chicken no taste leh. Fish curry is salty. But anyway I totally enjoyed my Nasi Kandar. I like the kurma kuah. Hehe.
