Here’s my 2011 Hong Kong travelogue (so far):
Hong Kong Day 1: Airport Express, Thematic Lantern Exhibition & Heritage 1881
Hong Kong Day 2: Star Ferry, Man Mo Temple & Gage Street Market
We only have one main agenda on day 3 that is to visit Ocean Park (海洋公園 Hoi Yong Kung Yuen). Ever since I was 12 years old I have wanted to visit this place. And on this day my dream was fulfilled. So happy!!! Wanted to go during my 1st visit but had to choose Disneyland over this. Disneyland was tempting but a disappointment.
So that morning we walked to Ashley Road at 10am. Had our breakfast in Hing Fat Restaurant. Ohh finally I have my ha kau! The food was good. Read my review of Hing Fat Restaurant here.
Then we took the MTR from Tsim Sha Tsui to Admiralty. At exit B of Admiralty MTR is the Ocean Park bus stop. We bought bus tickets (Citybus No. 629) and also the Ocean Park admission tickets (HK$250; RM99.25) at the bus/Ocean Park counter. The counter is hard to miss due to long queues. Total journey to Ocean Park took 10 mins only. No jam baby!
Ocean Park… I was here!
Sculptures by Adriana Korkos.
Printed on the large banner: Ocean Park warmly welcomed its 100th millionth guest on February 18, 2011.
Come now I’ll show you some of the attractions in Ocean Park…
At the Grand Aquarium. Sharks, stingrays and plenty of fishes.
At the Giant Panda Habitat.
This panda is so cute. That’s the way he sleeps. Haha
Sky Fair show.
Boring after some time. Attractive for kids of course.
Red panda. So cute eh?
Our lunch at Panda Cafe. Hahaha
Seafood congee is a bit bland but not bad. You have to add salt and pepper.
Roasted duck rice is yummy.
Ocean Park is divided into 2 areas which is called the waterfront and summit. So far what I’ve shown you above is at the waterfront area where edu attractions and kids rides are situated. At the summit, you will find adults thrills rides and more edu attractions.
To go to the summit, you can either ride the cable car or
Ocean Express train at this station. The train travels through a tunnel but worry not, the ride is short and interesting. You’ll know what I mean when you ride one. I wanted to go on the cable car but chicken-ed out the last minute plus the weather was really cold. I don’t want to go through the windy battle above. Prefer the ‘warm’ ride through the mountain. 🙂
This is the stunning view you get at the summit.
The attractions at the summit are quite far apart. Be prepared for long walks. Wished they have bicycle for rent. Haha
Sea Dreams show for dolphins and sea lions performance.
At the Sea Jelly Spectacular. This got to be my favorite place. 🙂
No thrills rides for me. Need to walk so far. Hahaha
The cold weather really tires you out easily. Need to walk slowly if not out of breath. Kekeke
Pacific Pier where the sea lions lives.
And then it was 6pm+
Shopping time before we head back. Bought a very cute sea lion toy. Will show next time.
All in all it I have a pleasant and educational experience at Ocean Park. No fun word here because I didn’t join the rides. 😛
Journey back (by bus) took a little longer ~25 mins as it was rush hour.
Since we’re dead tired, we searched our dinner near the vicinity (Ocean Park bus stop). Head to Far East Finance Centre which is just opposite the bus stop because we saw Monster Burger. Wanted to try since yesterday (saw one at Stanley Street) but unfortunately the outlet was closing for the day. The time was only 7.30pm. So laku eh?? Next time then.
Then I simply choose a restaurant to dine in. The diner is called Cafe De Coral. The food was so yummy ohh. Really can’t imagine by the look of it. Review soon at Messy Witchen. Review is done. Click at the restaurant name to read the review at Messy Witchen.
After dinner, we took the MTR back and on the way stopped at 7-11, Express and Aji Iciban for snacks and souvenirs.
The name might be in Japanese but Aji Iciban is purely Hong Kong. No matter where you go, you will surely bump into Aji Iciban. They’re available at the airport too. Aji Iciban is the largest snack food franchises. My favs snack from them are the wasabi broad beans and wasabi green beans. We bought the pick and mix bag as they are more worthy. The sesame egg rolls with shredded pork is nice too.
That’s it for day 3. To be continued…

You really spend a day at ocean park. Lot’s of things to see….
I didn’t even go to all the attractions… no time.
You’ve been there before? Try any thrills rides?
Have been on a cable car but never on a double-decker bus before. The dolphins performance is great and nice, seen this before at our local zoo as my friend was the trainer for the dolphins.
I’ve only been on the Genting cable car. That’s all. Haha
As for double-decker I’ve rode the HK tram once but I sat in lower compartment as it was very crammed.
Woo nice nice. Did you get to touch the dolphins? Didn’t know we have dolphins performance at our local zoo. Have not been there for ages!
In TVB drama they always talked about ocean park ler. 🙂
Ya ya that’s why I wanna go. Used to watched a lot of TVB dramas. Keke
Wow…this is 10 times better than Genting Highland ler. 🙂
Both have their own charms. 🙂
And the red panda is absolutely adorable…cuter than Foongpc. :p
Hehehe
Oh! I must visit Ocean Park!! So need to spend one whole day there?
Haha!! Can see myself (panda) there! : D
Ya most likely. Unless you spend time only at the waterfront then half day is enough.
Hehehe… so do you sleep like that panda?
Shopping at Ocean Park must be expensive right? Just like shopping in Disneyland?
You are right. But still I’m sure many will buy something to take home as souvenir (like me… haha).
I’m not a thrill-ride fan….but don’t mind doing jumps! 🙂 Oh I miss Aji Iciban…each time in Spore will buy lots of preserved fruits and snacks.
I’ll only go for the ‘easy’ roller coaster ride. LOL
Wah Singapore got Aji Iciban… Malaysia takda one. 🙁
PANDASSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cute hor? Hehehe
