I’ve been to Kuan Yin Teng (temple) in Setapak for many years and this is the first time during CNY that I brought my camera along. This temple is unique in such a way that it is situated in one of the shop-houses along Jalan Pahang. Renovated though. Parking is quite difficult during God festivities since it’s located in a very busy main road. I have include a parking tip at the bottom of this page.
Ok, let’s start with some CNY decorations…
A must: Lime tree (kat).
Pineapple = ong lai (good luck).
There were a few pots of them.

Beautiful bonsai plant near a mini waterfall.
Red lanterns. Quite a windy day.
Would be very pretty at night… all light up.

I’m tempted to plant this at home but afraid of mosquitoes (stagnant water).

Just behind the large censer are these rows of candles left by devotees.
I find it funny that I might like a particular photo now but when I look back at it after sometime I don’t find it nice anymore. Horrendous more like it. In my mind: *what was I thinking putting that photo up* LOL

Mom wanted to get something like this for our home but we all protest her idea.
Although I like wood furniture, design and the likes, I will choose a comfy sofa over this.

From Jalan Tun Razak direction:
Once you pass the vacant Kompleks Galleria, keep on the left lane.
When you come to a row of shop houses (some 350m from Kompleks Galleria), be on the look out for the temple (easily spotted with its green roofs). There’s a road just before the temple. Turn left into this road (Jalan Langgak Bukit). Park anywhere on the road side. Enter temple through the side door (also) at Jalan Langgak Bukit.

I like the last picture too. My parents bought a set of the mother of pearl wooden furniture long time ago and kids got used to it with lots of cushions around! π
The fact that my mom love sleeping on our current sofa doesn’t really help at all. Haha
Never been to this temple but then again, I hardly go to temples since I am a new-age Christian! LOL!
Like the lanterns, the lily flower and the row of candles photo! Oh yeah, some photos you tend not to like it after some time. I wonder why.
Haha! You are wise to protest about the antique furniture. It may look nice but it’s not going to be comfortable! : D

The pineapple size is actually the standard one you get in market. Looking at the picture I understand why you thought it’s tiny. That’s one tricky pict. Hehe

i wonder why the main gate always locked down
Hi Danny, the last time I went was last year. I’m not sure what time they open.
Hehe their main gate is always locked… at least that’s what I noticed when I was there. You need to go through the side gate… but that one also always close. So you gotta ‘knock-knock’ at the side gate. π
