Imagine my bewilderment when I saw a sea of beautiful lights shining from a small hill just behind Sungai Rasau Toll Plaza along Federal Highway. It was a very pretty sight! I knew immediately that must be I-City for I’ve read 2 articles about I-City’s White Winter Wonderland recently at The Star newspaper. If you’re clueless as what I-City is, you can read more about I-City here. In short I-City is the latest MSC Malaysia Cybercentre Zone @ Shah Alam, Selangor.
Good news is I have my DSLR with me that night. Wehheeee but boy oh boy I had some tough time setting up most of the shots as I’m not sure how to set the best aperture and white balance. Plus using a 50mm f/1.8 lens for landscape shots is a real test. In the end I just ignore the white balance setting (set to auto) and only concentrate on aperture. And I choose not to use flash as I dislike overblown picture.
So bear with me… these are my first night photography shots of LED Christmas trees.
Hmm too dark and not pretty. Haha
But I gotta show you how they look from far, right?
It was drizzling when we first arrived.
I ‘kinda’ like this picture! But something is amiss. A good composition maybe.
The hill was a little damp. A concrete path lead you to the LED trees. Be careful of the muddy earth though.
Hmm the blue and red LEDs lights kinda cacat. The colors looks overblown. What would you recommend the camera setting to be?
Lime tree in the midst of all this?
Chinese New Year is around the corner after all.
Unfortunately this shot didn’t turned out well from what I imagined.
Now this I like!
Christmas has come and gone and… there’s nothing wrong snapping Christmas trees in the month of January. Haha
This is my no. 1 favorite picture for this session. Look at the lovely bokeh. Especially the green one on the right.
I feel so happy every time I look at this picture.
Twinkle twinkle my eyes…
Another yellow star. I have blue star, green star and red star shots too but they doesn’t look as nice as this.
Love Love Love this.
Okay so I was there on 2nd January. But I’m not sure how long the display will be there. Do go and check them out. A heaven for photographers.
Here’s the map to I-City.

Angie Tan, to ceh. There are 2 ways to go to I-City (via Bukit Raja or after Sungai Rasau toll plaza before the Petronas/Shell station).
Jemima, there’s actually a very tall and white Christmas tree at the I-City building but too bad they didn’t on the tree’s light.
Keeyit, really? I thought they didn’t look that good. Just point and shoot.
Annant, go buy one la. Now DSLR very cheap. Hehe
Dawn, thank you thank you.

I wanted to go there last December to take some photos to add to my collection of Christmas decors post on my blog, but too bad, didn’t have time for it! Good thing you went! I’m amazed! It’s really nice!
Do they still have Xmas lights on now in January? Or all shut off already? Maybe they’ll have CNY decors coming up?

sure is a beautiful sight. but what’s the big idea really. here we are, everyone’s like going green, save the environment, plant a tree….. the best example now is to follow i city… plant a plastic tree!!!… the number of trees growing.

Patricia, if you haven’t seen it then it’s kinda an attraction but if you’ve seen it already you’ll feel it’s waste of money and electricity. Haha

I hope all the LED trees and animals are using solar power. I wonder how many hours would the LED lights last. I also wonder how much it will cost the tax payer money to mantain the eye sore in the landscape. If it is mantained by the developer, I am sure the developer will pass on the mantainance cost to the property owner. I urge the developer to make full use of the money to dvelop solar energy to serve the building and help reducing global warming and be proud rather than creating this stupid high energy consumption eye sore.

Michael Sia, the ‘lights trees/animals/flowers’ have become so widespread until I think it’s over the top now. Thinking of the electricity used to light all these up… what a waste of money unless they’re using solar power.
Are you i-City?
