넝쿨째 굴러온 당신 My Husband Got A Family (Korean Drama)

I know I swear off weekend Korean dramas because of its long episodes but this is another one that I couldn’t let off because of its interesting storyline. My Husband Got A Family has a total of 58 episodes and it has Kim Nam Joo to boost. I’ve never seen her dramas before but just 1 episode of this is enough to tell me she’s a very powerful lady.

I thought ‘My Husband Got A Family’ is an odd name for a drama. I like ‘Unexpected You’ better. Anyway this drama in the core tell the story of how a woman deals with his parents-in-law and 3 sister-in-laws with a very loving husband in tow. It’s quite fun to watch but overall I watch it for the mere purpose of how she deals with her in-laws. Heh!

Yoon Hee facing off with her mother-in-law!

Growing up, Hong Yunhui had suffered enough from family conflicts between her mother and her paternal grandmother! However, she meets the perfect match – A Korean-American adoptee currently working at a general hospital in Seoul! He’s smart and his family lives in New York. Isn’t he the perfect bridegroom? It seemed like Yunhui could go on with happy honey moon life forever. However, fate isn’t usually that kind. Her husband finds his biological family! Which means Yunhui now has in-laws. What is worse and unbelievable is that her in-laws are the next-door neighbors who pick fights with Yunhui all the time. Yunhui’s life with in-laws starts like this. Living with enemies as one family.. Would it ever be possible?

Who surrender first?

Kim Nam Joo as Cha Yoon Hee
Yoo Jun Sang as Terry Kang / Bang Gwi Nam
Hong Hyun Taek as child Gwi Nam

Yoon Yeo Jung as Uhm Chung Ae (Gwi Nam’s mom)
Jang Yong as Bang Jang Soo (Gwi Nam’s dad)
Kang Boo Ja as Jun Mak Rye (Gwi Nam’s grandma)
Yang Jung Ah as Bang Il Sook (Gwi Nam’s oldest sis)
Jo Yoon Hee as Bang Yi Sook (Gwi Nam’s younger sis)
Oh Yeon Seo as Bang Mal Sook (Gwi Nam’s youngest sis)

Yoo Ji In as Uhm Bo Ae (Gwi Nam’s aunt)
Yang Hee Kyung as Uhm Soon Ae (Gwi Nam’s aunt)
Nah Young Hee as Jang Yang Sil

Kim Sang Ho as Bang Jung Bae (Gwi Nam’s uncle)
Shim Yi Young as Bang Ko Ok (Jung Bae’s wife)
Kwak Dong Yeon as Bang Jang Goon (Jung Bae’s son)

Kim Young Ran as Han Man Hee (Yoon Hee’s mom)
Kim Yong Hee as Cha Se Joong (Yoon Hee’s older brother)
Jin Kyung as Min Ji Young (Se Joong’s wife)
Kang Min Hyuk as Cha Se Kwang (Yoon Hee’s younger brother)

Lee Hee Jun as Chun Jae Yong (Yi Sook’s boss)
Kim Won Joon as Yoon Bin (Il Sook’s film star crush / also work as his manager)
Kim Hyung Bum as Nam Nam Goo (Il Sook’s divorced hubby)

Kim Nam Joo as Cha Yoon Hee (wife) and Yoo Jun Sang as Terry Kang aka Bang Gwi Nam (Korea’s perfect husband).

The star of this drama is Kim Nam Joo as Cha Yoon Hee. She’s just superb. I don’t fancy Yoo Jun Sang’s acting (who acted as Cha Yoon Hee’s husband). His acting is very green. I thought this was his first drama when I found out actually he has acted in a lot. In my opinion he’s the weakest link in this drama. He failed to carry out the emotions every time except for just a couple of times (say less than 5 times) when he really nailed it.

Bang Mal Sook with Cha Se Kwang.

Yi Sook with Chun Jae Yong.

I’m more invested in Gwi Nam’s three sister stories especially Yi Sook and Mal Sook. And I LOVE LOVE LOVE this clueless boy called Bang Jang Goon. The time when Cha Se Kwang tutored Jang Goon… well those are my favorite episodes. Haha

Compare this drama which has higher ratings and with more famous actors/actress line ups than My Love, My Family (my first weekend drama a year ago), I actually love My Love, My Family more because it manages to tug at my heartstrings.

Still this is a good watch. If not watch for the sake of the daughter-in-law and mother fight. ROAR!

p/s: I’m skipping My Daughter, Seo Young (the weekend drama after Unexpected You). Need to rest. I did that with Ojakyo Brothers too (after watching My Love, My Family). Most probably will pick the next one up if it’s good.

I know, my sis said the same thing. I only watch 10 -15 mins every day when I get home from work at night and one or two episodes during the weekends but sometimes none. Sigh……
