It’s been 2.5 weeks since I bought several potted herbs from Sungai Buloh. Let’s see how my herbs fair after nearly 3 weeks with me. LOL I didn’t re-potted the herbs into new pots unlike last time because I thought it’s better not to disturb them in their comfortable home (pots). This way is smarter I think especially for inexperience gardener like me.
I’ve bought a total of 6 herbs plus 1 more which is my mom’s but under my care. Place all of ’em beside my basil in shady area. I sun-bath them from morning till evening on the bricks fence except on rainy days.
All photos below will show a comparison on the day I bought the plants home and today’s condition.
Rosemary looking good so far but I think for a healthy rosemary, its leaves will grow upward. Mine sometime will be a horizontal and a bit droopy. As for lavender, it has grew taller. Yipee! Can’t wait till it flowers.
Thyme has grew taller too. It’s so fragrant. Mint is doing great too. As you can see in the latest picture, it’s kinda ‘botak’ looking. That’s because I’ve picked quite a few to make drinks. I figured out mint characteristics quite quickly. They needs plenty of water or else it’ll become droopy. I have some yellowish mint leaves which I have no clue why but thank god they’re just a few of them.
Oregano is growing well too. Trimmed a few with thyme and keep in the fridge. It doesn’t emit much scent. The plant below oregano is my mom’s plant. All we know is that it’s good for cough. No name and not sure how to take care of it. As you can see the leaves at the bottom is turning yellow quite a bit.
Of all the herbs, dill has got to be my favorite. I love love love the scent. Even when I’m standing quite far away, I can still smell the lovely dill. Even Chester smell it occasionally. It’s a little bald too because I’ve picked some for my cooking. As you can see, about 50% of its leaves has turned yellowish. I thought it needed lots of sun, so I gave sun to it. But those yellowish leaves feels dry so I gave it water. A lil’ dumbfounded right now as I’m not sure what to do. I think I’ll stop giving it water since I read it’s a hardy plant. It has seeded but dried up half way. Another branch is flowering which is good news!
Lastly, my Roselle plant is flowering everyday (at 1 or 2 flowers per day rate) in the morning and by evening the flower will close and fall to the ground. Then we have the ‘fruit’/calyx (sepal of a flower) remain which is growing bigger day by day which I will collect it eventually to make roselle juice but it’s just so few. How to make juice leh? I need about 15 pieces. Hahaha
That’s it for now!
p/s: Next I plan to get bay leaf and sage.

The plants are looking healthy. You have experience now to handle these babies! 🙂 Pretty soon you are going to make your own Italian dry seasoning! 😉
Tq tq haha
I love your heab garden. I didn’t know lavender can thrive in our climate. I will try growing it too.
I didn’t know either until I saw those pots at Sungai Buloh. 🙂
seems like you have quite a number of herbs there 🙂 must have taken lots of time to grow them so well
They look good because I bought them not long ago. Hopefully they’ll grow happily in my porch. 🙂
