Meet My New Oven

Yes! Yes! Yes! I’ve finally bought an oven. It all started when I was looking through The Star paper few weeks back and chance upon an advertisement by Kee Huat Radio showcasing their free standing Europa OvenMate electric oven.

We visited Kee Huat Radio‘s showroom at Sea Park last Saturday. Our main objective is to have a look and get information about that oven. From what I gathered from the sales person, Europa OvenMate is an Italian brand, all internal oven parts are made from Italy but is assemble in Kee Huat Radio’s plant at Shah Alam.

Would you have a yellow or red oven in your kitchen? No right? Ugly hor? That’s why they stop selling color oven. But my mom said they’re pretty.

There are also free standing cookers (cooker + oven),

clothes dryer and washing machine samples at the showroom.

This free standing electric oven, Valencia retails at RM1198 but is selling at a discounted price of RM980.

VALENCIA 688E specification:
* Dimensions : 675 (H) x 500 (W) x 575 (D) mm
* Electric Oven
* Electric Grill
* Thermostat Control
* Bell Timer
* Oven Lamp
* Jet Cook System (produce even heat distribution)
* Oven Sliding Grille : 2 Sets
* Oven Capacity : 52 litres

We didn’t plan to buy the oven on the day itself. But due to the persuasiveness of the salesperson and my dad (would you believe it he said: Buy now la. Since we’re already here. Do you want to make another trip here?), we bought the oven.

Come meet my new oven, Europa OvenMate VALENCIA 688E. Yeah it’s cute and short hor. :laughing: We placed Miss Valencia on a wooden stand. To make her taller, we place our microwave on her head. :laughing:

Currently I’m looking for a dog cake recipe. I promised Chester I will bake a cake for his birthday. :grin: As for you guys, I can only show ‘mouth-watering’ cookies and cake pictures lor.

p/s: I would like to express my displeasure at the staff who attended us. This is the first time in my life as a customer that I was told to unpack our purchase from the store room all by ourselves. It wasn’t easy unpacking the oven because the oven was surrounded by planks that are nailed together. We were brought to the back room and dad was asked to disengage the planks with a hammer. Where was that staff? Attending another customer outside.

Too bad I’ve already paid for the oven. If not I would storm out of there immediately.

I remember the name Kee Huat radio from the Radio 4 days. Was the tagline, “That’s what you buy always”?

If I were you, for that price, I will get a microwave oven. Don’t you think paying for just the oven is not worth it? Plus that oven is quite bulky ler.

Reply

Che-Cheh November 20, 2007 at 1:18 pm

Hijackqueen, we prefer those conventional oven because they are more spacious because they can bake alot more. Plus we already have a normal oven at home. Somehow we don’t really like using mircowave a lot…not really good for health lor.

Naz09 March 14, 2010 at 2:39 pm

hehe..i wrote that message before seeing others’ inquiry to you..i got it already..its RM980..but im not sure if we can get that price now.. i ask around and its 1K++ i wonder if that price is ok..thanks again.

Reply

Che-Cheh March 15, 2010 at 1:01 pm

Hi Naz09, I bought the oven at RM980 during sales. Retail price is RM1198. I saved RM218! Hmm depending whether you need to use the oven urgently. If you don’t need to use the oven now, why not wait during sales period?

But then RM1198 is cheap compared to other ‘branded’ ovens.

Thanks!!

Che-Cheh May 21, 2010 at 9:25 am

Simonne, Hi it’s not a new oven. 3 years old already. :)
I’m not sure about the max pan size but looking at the dimension, probably it can fit more than 40cm pan size I guess. [Dimensions : 675 (H) x 500 (W) x 575 (D) mm]

Fiza, hi there :)
This is a good oven and valued for money. I’ve not had any problem with this oven even after 3 years plus of usage. You can go ‘tinjau2′ the price. Not sure increase or not ya.

Hi, Che-Cheh.

Good choice for oven. I’ve used mine for almost 19 yrs now, only twice ‘broke-down’ but repair was less than RM100 each time. Really worth it, considering sometimes I bake for 12 hrs straight. Back then, it was only RM600. Hehe.

Cheers frm me.

Che-Cheh October 6, 2010 at 8:34 am

Zai, Wow 19 years?!? wohoo that good eh. Guess we both made the smart choice. Haha. :)
