Remembering Star Wars

Reading Wuching’s post about Star Wars toys reminds me of a special edition paper that I had kept for 9 years. It was the Star Wars Special Edition pullout published by The Star many many years ago to commemorate the Special Editions of The Star Wars trilogy which opened in Malaysia on that very day.

Of course we (sis and me) went on and watched the Special Editions trilogy. It was a lifetime experience and to be able to sit through the whole 3 movies and experienced the Force, I would give anything (almost) to watch the trilogy again on silver screen. In case you don’t know, Special Editions trilogy contains restoration of some scenes cut from the original, new special effects, yadda yadda (you should know this if you’re a fan).

Vaguely, the first Star Wars movie that I watched was The Empire Strikes Back at the tender age of less than 5 years old. I only remembered there were plenty of stars in the galaxy and the freaking looking Darth Vader. I was then exposed to the whole trilogy during my growing up years when our national TV aired the trilogy in the late 80s (I think so).

My hero? Luke Skywalker and he will always be my hero. My favorite Star Wars’ song is the one at the scene when Luke was looking at the 2 large suns in A New Hope. I can hum that song… And my favorite spaceship? The Millennium Falcon, the most beautiful babe in the world.

Fast forward to present time, I’m now reading ‘The New Jedi Order’ series (yes, they’re not official Star Wars stories). It’s very exciting and yet heartbreaking. They have a new enemy in the galaxy, an enemy far worst than Emperor Palpatine. An enemy that has no effect on the Force; how scary? Ok enough said.

Tell me I’m right about this…

Star Wars is the greatest movie ever made.
Period.

i read a couple of books from the New Order series and they’re pretty good – George Lucas should make some more sequels based on them

and yeah, Star Wars is arguably one of the best movies ever made 🙂
